Well with the fact that we have 10 months of winter, it doesn't surprise me.
really?
There were days in November where I didn't have to wear a jacket this year. . .
I consider it winter when it's below 75 degrees. And this summer was awful. Plus we have no spring to speak of. It's a very depressing climate IMO.
I agree! I find that the older I get the more I cannot tolerate the weather here. I understand now why Florida is so appealing .

But that's the entire northern part of this country. I would think Seattle is more depressing with the amount of rain it gets consistently.
I too hate the cold and plan on retiring to the Caribbean. Even Florida gets its cold spells!

I never believed the NYers are mean and grumpy and rude statement...I always thought we were misunderstood...UNTIL
I moved to San Diego...Holy crap what a difference. When we first go there, people would say Good Morning, etc and we thought they were being fake....we came to realize - people are nice!
when I moved back, my heart just sank...People are really negative, they are mean and aggressive drivers, they are mean sports fans, they are nasty to people in stores, they don't make eye contact...I could go on and on. I only dream of retirement to leave NY again.

NY is a nice place to visit not to live IMO. Moving OOS was the best decision for me an my family!

I grew up in NY, lived in Suffolk, Nassau, Brooklyn, NYC and the Hamptons. DH and I moved to Florida earlier this year and I miss NY like crazy. Not the freezing weather, but everything else. If I could, I would live in FL for the winter and NY for the summer.
I think when the economy is good, I can see the allure of OOS. For us, it is hard since I am preggo with our first DD. I am also admitted to practice law in NY and not in Florida which makes it difficult. But there is definitely less traffic and it is much cleaner and friendlier (well, not by me, because S. Florida is full of NY'ers anyway!)
