Re: Are you baking anything special for Valentine's Day?
With all the options out there...(I told DH to go online and find any dessert he wanted and I would make it, if I have a receipe, I can usually make anything- but I def can't come up with my own recipes lol)
Anyway... he searches and searches and decides he wants a white FUNFETTI cake with chocolate FUNFETTI icing I said "You want a $2 dessert?? " and he said "I want something that GG (short for Gianna, our 16mo DD) can help you with"

Not sure how old DC is - but DS is 2 years old -
Thought of the pull apart choc chip cookies - maybe dipping 1/2 in red melted choc? That's about the extent of his cooking levels.

I think I might go ahead and make a box of duncan hines cake with vanilla frosting. It's so easy, but it is DHs favorite!

Re: Are you baking anything special for Valentine's Day?
I made a heart shaped cake with red and pink sprinkles in it....I still have to decide how it's going to be decorated.
I made cupcakes and cut a heart out of the middle of them and filled it with buttercream and decorated with those same pink and red sprinkles.
And....I made some chocolates.....milk and dark chocolate filled with marshmallow, black raspberry, or caramel fillings, and cherry cordials.
I love Valentine's Day treats!!

How did yours turn out. Mine came out delish. He's the recipe I found it in good housekeeping mag:
18 graham cracker squares, finely crushed (1 ½ cups .. personal note I needed about 2 ¼ cups. Adjust butter & sugar according to how much crumbs you need. It may have been just me making the crust a little too thick) ½ c butter, melted 2T sugar 2 8oz pkg cream cheese – softened 1c creamy peanut butter 1/4c sugar 3 eggs 1 ½ c semi sweet chocolate pieces 2T milk ½t vanilla (side note I left this out bc I forgot it) Peanuts (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 300F. Combine crackers, melted butter, & 2T sugar. Press into bottom and 1” up sides of a 9” springform pan; set aside. In bowl beat 1 package cream cheese until smooth with electric mixer until smooth. Beat in peanut butter and 1/4c sugar until combined. Fold in 1 lightly beaten egg; set aside 2. In saucepan stir chocolate over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Cube remaining cream cheese; add to chocolate. Stir to combine. Stir in milk & vanilla until smooth. Fold in 2 lightly beaten eggs. Spread ½ the chocolate mixture into pan. Carefully spread peanut butter mixture over the chocolate layer. Evenly spread remaining chocolate mixture. 3. Bake 45 minutes or until top is set when lightly shaken. Outer 2” of top will be slightly puffed and dry-looking; center will look darker and wet. Cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes. Use small sharp knife to loosen crust from sides. Cool for 30 minutes. Remove sides of pan; cool completely on rack. Cover; chill 4 hours. Let stand at room temp for 15 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with peanuts.

Sounds great! I'm bookmarking. Mine turned out great too, heres the recipe I got if from LIFer rileysmama 1 pkg. (1 lb. 2 oz.) OREO Cookies, divided 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, melted 4 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened 1 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream 4 eggs make it! HEAT oven to 325ºF.
LINE 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Process 30 cookies in food processor until finely ground. Add butter; mix well. Press onto bottom of pan.
BEAT cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Add sour cream; mix well. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until blended after each. Chop remaining cookies; stir 1-1/2 cups into batter. Pour over crust; top with remaining chopped cookies.
BAKE 45 min. or until center is almost set. Cool completely. Refrigerate 4 hours. Use foil handles to lift cheesecake from pan before cutting to serve.
kraft kitchens tipsSUBSTITUTEPrepare as directed, using PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese.HOW TO BAKE IN SPRINGFORM PANSubstitute 9-inch springform pan for the baking pan. Do not line with foil. Prepare cheesecake as directed, increasing the baking time to 1 hour or until center is almost set. Run small knife around rim of pan to loosen cake; cool completely. Remove rim. Refrigerate as directed. (Note: If using dark nonstick 9-inch springform pan, reduce oven temperature to 300°F.)
