Are you buying special baby detergent to wash baby clothes? Can I just use Tide?
I was thinking of just using our normal Tide to wash the baby's clothes.
Is it necessary to buy the special baby detergent? What's the difference?

I wouldn't use normal Tide, but doesn't Tide make a free and clear version? As a baby I had super sensitive skin and got rashes from perfumes and dyes, so while I won't buy Dreft exclusively, I'm planning on only doing the free and clear versions until I am sure that the baby isn't allergic.

Me too! You don't want to introduce all kinds of crazy dyes.

You should use Free and Clear for a few months til you know that baby's skin isn't sensitive.
I still use it and DS is 20 months, but that's b/c the dog is allergic to detergent

I used Dreft at the beginning, but it wasn't getting out ANY stains. I started using ALL Free (something like that)

I bought Dreft to wash DD's clothes before putting them away in the nursery. I think I will switch to Tide Free& Clear later, because I am not too fond of the powdering scent of Dreft.

I just washed a load of baby clothes in Tide Free or whatever it's called. Everything I've read said it's not necessary to use Dreft. The only thing dreft I bought was the stain remover b/c my cousin swears by it! I figured I'd give it a try!

Depends on the baby. DD has very sensitive skin and gets ezcema if I use anything that has perfumes/dyes in it. We got one bottle of Dreft in the beginning and then switched to All Free and Clear. I wouldn't start off with regular tide....the last thing you need is a newborn with rashes, etc.
