Are you creative? gift giving/planning wise

do you come up with things that blow people away..or that are memorable?

I have to say I probably don't. Chat Icon I wish I did, but I just don't think I am that good at it.

I put my heart into everything, don't get me wrong, but let's face it...when you've done the same heartfelt thing a million times over, a million different ways...each time kinda melds into the next.

the husband has amazed me a few times...I just haven't been able to return the favor....

When it comes to DH, yes I'm very creative. And he is also. But when it comes to gift giving for anyone else, I'm pretty bad.

Re: Are you creative? gift giving/planning wise

I am pretty creative. I like to try to give things from the heart.

For Christmas, I organized all of my mom's 59 years of photos into photo boxes. I typed each topic and subtopic onto cards to separate each bunch. It took me 4 months, but she LOVED it.

For my MIL, before she passed away, I made her a beautifully decorated photo album and organized her pics of family and friends for her 60th birthday. She cried when she opened it.

For children, I try to personalize items and wrap their gifts creatively. They seem to get a kick out of it.

I try to listen very carefully to conversations and find out people's interests/ hobbies...then I track down items online and purchase them.

My grandma always talked about a book she read when she first married my grandfather. I knew the title (vaguely) and that it was about Italy. I found the book online from some antique book store and got it for her. She was so touched, and she reads the book at least 3 times a year!

I don't think I blow anyone away with my gifts, but I do try to be thoughtful.

I try to be thoughtful, especially when planning an event. I like my guests to feel special, etc. I always try to run a theme or something along those lines.

Re: Are you creative? gift giving/planning wise

Only with the people who appreciate it like my husband and my parents.

This year, I took individual and group pictures of the whole family on Thanksgiving (didn't tell anyone why) and then bought a freestanding family tree, printed all the pictures and fitted them into each branch of the tree. My Mom had tears in her eyes when she opened it and Dad was speechless.

My parents have always appreciated sentimental presents, so I always work the hardest for theirs.

Wow Greeny that sounds beautiful!!! What a wonderful present. I'd be blown away if someone ever did something like that for me.

Same here. I think I'm thoughtful, but trying to be creative makes me anxious.

If you've put thought into it, there is no reason to beat yourself up about it. After all it is a gift sweetie! Chat Icon

Re: Are you creative? gift giving/planning wise

I think anything that comes from the heart (and mind) when it comes to gift giving are creative gifts. Walking into a store and grabbing the first thing you see is not.

I strive on being a thoughtful gift giver. Money has nothing to do with it

I try to be creative with my gift giving! I try and listen when people talk to get ideas of the likes and dislikes.

Re: Are you creative? gift giving/planning wise

I most always do store-bought gifts, but they are always something that I think the person will love. I think I'm pretty creative, and every Christmas there are one or two gifts that I am particularly proud of.
