Are you For or Against receiving the FLU shot?
How many of you get the shot every year? How many of you do not and still are fine? I am leaning towards not getting the shot this year, but I want to make sure I am making the right decision..Thanks

I'm not for or against it. Having said that, I've never gotten one or have ever had the flu.
Even now that I'm pregnant, I'm still not getting the shot.

against, but that is b/c it seems every time i have gotten it, I have gotten sick shortly thereafter and again and again that same season. My bio-med friends/colleagues tell me however that you "can't get sick" from the shot, but i'm not so sure about that.

alot of people i know got sick after they got it tooo
i never got one and dont plan on it

I have never gotten it. I haven't had the flu in 15 years. I usually get whatever cold or URI that comes around. My DH gets the flu shot every year but he has several health problems.

the flu vaccine years ago was the live bug. The shot now is the dead virus.
If you got the flu shot too late and the bug was already cooking inside of you, you could get the flu.
I get it every year. I had it once, I will do anything not to feel that way ever again.
I have a medical condition and getting the flu could land me in the hospital. No thanks, I will get my flu shot every year.

i opted against it. could be coincidence but i was out of work for a month with severe pneumonia the week after i got my first flu shot so call me stupid but i'll pass on the shot. and how do they even know what strain of the flu will be around this year?? could be a whole new can of worms!!

You should get a pnuemonia vaccine.
I don't know how they figure out the strain, but they have to have some scientific way of figuring it out. I'm going to ask my doc.
Ever since getting the shot, I have never had the flu. In fact, I don't even get a lot of colds.

I have asthma which was not under control for a long time. I always get one. I also had a pneumonia shot.

I got it once in college and caught the flu.
I have stopped getting the shot and I don't get the flu. I got it last year, but so did my FIL who got the shot.

i got a pneumonia shot right after i recovered and had such a horrific reaction to it that they told me i was allergic to the daisy powder in it and i can't take it again
