yes, he got it last year at 6 months- there were no problems. My doc is a big advocate of it

Good question...I was wondering this myself.
I was offered it yesterday for her but hesitated, I wanted to do a little research first.

Yes, they are both getting it a Oct. 12th. The one year Sammy did not get it he got reaaly sick with the flu and croup

nope. There are 1000s of starins of the flu, and the flu shot is made 2 years in advance of the flu season... so chances are it probably won't work. Plus, I think it was last year when they didn't have enough .. and that was the year *no one* got the flu. My Dr will probably suggest it, but he's not the boss of me.

I am so uncertain about this. Dh and I never get them, but *knock, knock* never get the flu either ( and I work in a preschool). I am going to put this on my list with my ped visit next week.

I forgot to mention this...
Since I'm so on the fence about whether to do it or not, my Ped. gave me some advice & said that since Alex isn't in day care & doesn't have any siblings, he wouldn't say it's a MUST for her.
BUT, she could still get it just from going to the mall, a playdate, etc..so who knows.

I've never gotten my kids the flu shot. My theory is that it's not a disease that they are likely to die from, so I'd prefer to opt out of the shot. I'm not crazy about the varicella shot for this very reason.
Have children died? yes. When I asked my doctor about it, he said it would be so rare - and those were the moms that hesitated or didn't notice how serious it was/dehydrated their children were.
If I had a preemie - I would absolutely get the shot. They have enough to deal with RSV in the wintertime.
