area rug under dining room table
anyone have this, and should i do this to protect the hardwood floors? can anyone suggest wear to buy one or pricing for one...thanks

We just did this but we have tile floors. I honestly think it warms up the room. We got one at Lowes.

If you are just worrying aout protecting the hardwood floors you can buy little pads for the bottom of the furniture. They are like little pieces of carpet, for lack of a better description, that stick to the bottom of your chairs and allow them to slide on the floor w/o scratching.
I decided to forgo a rug for now and that's what we did.

I have one and love it. I really think it made our dinning room look a lot bigger. Now we just need a new table.

I love how the new rug looks! I went to the Medford Lowe's to see it in person, but they didn't have it there.
Quick question - online it looks like there's a lot of blue in the rug - is it that way in person too?

We put a rug under our dining room table. We didn't have one at first, and we had those little carpet squares on the legs of our chairs so they wouldn't scratch the floors, but they always fell off and were a pain. When my brother moved, he offered us his rug, and since it matched perfectly with our paint color, we took it and we think it looks fine. It ends up being good for us because we don't have an eat-in-kitchen and we use our table and chairs everyday and this helps save the floor, especially with children.
