I know. Unfortunately, that's the max sentence he could receive.

That should be the minimum--for when you don't hit anyone while driving drunk. 7 years just for being over the limit.
ETA: I hope that Dani's brother can sue this guy civilly for the pain that he inflicted. He sure drove a nice enough car drunk.

He was on both state and gov't assistance at the time of the crash. The lawyer he has is appointed to him because he cannot afford one so, basically, we are paying for his lawyer. I know it seems like he would have money being that he drove a Mercedes Benz with after-market rims and tires that cost thousands, but, sadly - that is not the case. He has no money, whatsoever. That's OK though - I mean, what can we really do? We are happier with justice, at least. The Lawyer who looked into it told us it would be like getting blood from a stone. You have to just laugh about it because it's so ridiculous!

I really think you should write a book. You have such a way with words. I've followed the story all along and the way u are able to convey everything that's happened----it's like we're all there with you.
I am always so glad to read all of your updates----It's amazing all of the progress that he's made.
Will continue to for him!
