Arizona

DH & I are booked to fly out to Phoenix in a couple of weeks for our "babymoon" (I'll be 24-25wks).

He will already be in PHX for business and I'm flying out to meet him. The original plan was to drive to Sedona and spend our time there.

Now I'm tossing around different options.
If you've been to AZ, which part did you visit, where did you stay and what did you love/hate about it?

TIA!

Re: Arizona

We went to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Loved both places. Depending on how much time you have....I would definitely go to Sedona anyway. Not sure about the rest of Arizona since those are the only places we visited.

I can recommend a wonderful B&B in Sedona.

Re: Arizona

DH and I went to Phoenix first week of september last year.We stayed at Sheraton Wild horse and Pass in Chandler(10 min.from airport)Resort was Beautiful, and service was fantastic..It has beautiful pools and a waterslide that acutally made us giggle..soooo fun...The resort is attached to a casino and a dude ranch. There is a river from the resort that runs to both places. The resort offers a boat ride up and down the scenic river to get back and forth..sooo relaxing...Dude ranch was great...they perform western shootouts, have old western stores, and a saloon with great food and entertainment.....We also visited a ghost town, took a scenic train ride, and went tubbing down a river...can you tell we're very active..lol... all iof this was in the Phoenix/chandler area.... Feel free to FM w/any questions...

We stayed at the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch, Scottsdale and did a day trip to Sedona. Sedona's Enchantment resort is beautiful, if you decide to stay there.

Re: Arizona

I stayed at the Phoenician in Scottsdale. It was the best hotel experience of my life. It is truly amazing. The Phoenician I climbed Camelback Mtn., explored Old Town Scottsdale, and spent a lot of time by the pool. Had an amazing time.

Re: Arizona

if motion sickness isn't affecting you, take I-17 to flagstaff and get off at route 89A to go to Sedona - well worth it - but some of the turns and downhills are a bit crazy. Going back to Phoenix take 89A/89 the rest of the way through Prescott and into Wickenburg (if either of you golf - the 4th best golf course in AZ is here, but in season it's $150 a round each) and 60 back to Phoenix - a great scenic route.

this should be done on the way south, b/c I have heard of people losing their transmission going north from sedona to flagstaff on 89A

We stayed at the Biltmore in Phoenix and loved it. We took a day trip to Sedona which was awesome too. We took a jeep tour of the Red Rocks.

I wanted to take a hot air balloon ride but DH was too chicken...

If you stay in Phoenix you HAVE to go to Tarbell's restaurant.....it was amazing. The owner/chef Tarbell won the Iron Chef on Food Network!
