As you can tell with all of my questions, I am nearing the finish line...here's another one: open ended sleep gowns
I received a few sleep gowns (not sacks, but open ended elasticized gowns in light cotton). Do babies really like these? What do they wear them for? Am I better off exchanging and getting a sleeper with feet?
As you can see, I am getting ready to cross the finish line and have tons of preparation questions.

They are just for that--sleeping and they are the greatest! I used them all the time when Benji was very little, you put socks on them, a sleeping gown, blanket (all tucked in under the mattress on the sides, of course) and middle of the night changing is a breeze!

They make it very easy to change diapers in the middle of the night. Sleepers with feet are a lot more work to get on and off.

If you have a squirmy baby like I did, they are a nightmare. They would end up all bunched up under her arms. My suggestion is feety pjs with a sleep sack over it. Or even the long sleeved zippered sleep sacks by Carter's. You can just put a onesie underneath.

I never liked using these with my DS...all they seem to do is ride up and they don't seem as comfy as a nice feety pj...

I didn't like them either. I prefered footed pjs and swaddle and then sleepsack when he outgrew that. It's a preference, why not keep one pack and not open the others until you try them and decide for yourself, this way you can return the unopened ones if you don't like it.

My friend who had a baby just before I did swore by them so I bought a bunch, but they didn't work for me. I found them to be a pain to get on DD. She hated things going over her head in the beginning. I LOVE the zipper sleep n play outfits and found diaper changes so easy with these.

We hated them. They were difficult to get over her head and I hated having to deal with socks because they always fell off and her little feet would get cold.

not a fan. I imagine maybe summer babies get more wear out of them. They always bunch up on us, and I want his legs covered.

I love those!!! My son was born in February and I used them - he lived in them and I hated to give them up!!! I think he liked being able to feel his own skin on his legs rub together...made him nice and comfy. I used them under swaddle wraps or fleece buntings in the winter months. Made diaper changes at night nice and easy and I think DH liked it better than having to fit a little squirmy guy back into footed pj's.

I had the same problem. I ended up getting a bunch of feety pjs with a ZIPPER in front. Those made middle of the night changes sooo much easier.

I am so surprised by the number of moms that didn't like these! I had the kind that button up, maybe that is the difference? I was actually a little upset when DS outgrew them! They make middle of the night diaper changes SO much easier! Especially for a new mom with a squirmy baby! We would put him in the sleeping gown then swaddle him. He slept great in them and didn't really move around too much since he was swaddled.

DD is 3 months old and she still wears these. she loves them!

We used them but not those kind- ours snapped up the middle and then converted into onesies - so at least I felt like I got more use out of them. But yes, great for middle of the night diaper changes! And easy to put on squirmy babies!

DD wore these til about 3-4mths. I loved them for the convenience of changing her. We swaddled her for the first few months so it didn't matter that it rode up on her because the swaddle kept her warm.

This was my issue too. DD was really squirmy and the gowns would ride up on her. I returned the majority of mine for feety pjs.
