Asking For A Raise Tactics
What have you found to be the best tactics in asking for a raise? What have you done that has been successful? What has been unsuccessful.
DH REALLY needs to ask for a raise and isn't doing so because he doesn't know how. I don't want him to end up making what he does now for as long as he's at his job and I know he's a little scared to ask for more money. I've never asked for a raise either, they've always just been given. I really would love some tips to share with DH.
TIA!

Re: Asking For A Raise Tactics
# 1 - Avoid making it personal. Do not go in there and say "I really need a raise, because I have to get the bathroom redone..."
#2 - Be prepared. Go in with a list of recent accomplishments, ie., increasing sales, bringing in new business, creating new and more effective ways of doing things, any added responsibilities that you have taken on.
# 3 - Be condident, spell out your case, and do not give an ultimatum. If the boss refuses because there is no room in the budget, etc. Ask when you can renegotiate your salary.
