Asking for my sister (GD testing) Has this happened to anyone

My sister is 28 weeks and still hasn't taken the GB test. She has tried 3 times and every time she throws up. The poor thing has throw up almost every single day for the last 28 weeks. So I would say her morning/all day sickness is pretty bad.

Has this happened to anyone? What happens if she can’t take it? Is there another test she can take?

I think Shorty had the same problem-not 100% sure. FM her. She may be able to help.

After I was diagnosed with GD and read a bunch of other forums and stuff, I read of a few cases where the women couldn't keep the glucola down and were automatically treated as if they had GD.

What did your sister's OB say?

Well, good luck to her! I have never heard of another way to test for gestational diabetes so I would think if she cannot stomach the test, they will just put her on the GD diet and ask her to monitor her blood sugar.

You can direct her here to us if she has more questions or needs advice! Chat Icon

they kinda have to assume she has it and go from there since she cant take the test. I failed one hour and threw up 3 hour so they had to assume I had it, and it turns out i definitly do

it happened to me TWICE (the fruit punch and the orange) - the 3rd time i attempted it (the lemon lime flavor), it stayed down. I just made sure I had taken zofran right before I went. I passed with flying colors. Chat Icon

Hugs to your sister, I know what it's like! Poor thing...

UGh, this is my fear, I'm still throwing up multiple times a day at 14 weeks.

That happened to me too. I ended up taking a different type of test. I had to fast, go for blood, then eat breakfast, then go back an hour later for more blood. I passed. But developed high blood sugar around week 36. My dr didn't want to treat me as having GD.
