Assistant Director of Career Services job

Position Overview: To further the growth of a viable Career Services organization in the undergraduate colleges of a Metropolitan university by guiding students and alumni through the job/internship search process, building relationships with potential employers and creating/improving venues for students to meet employers.
Position Responsibilities: Counsel/coach students: Guide students one-on-one and in group settings through all facets of the job search process, including self assessment, networking, interviewing, resume and cover letter preparation, etc. Create and deliver skill-building and informational workshops.
Building relationships with potential employers: Contact potential employers and HR professionals and work toward on-campus and in-office interviewing. Promote opportunities for employers to present various career-related and job search-related topics to students. Creating and improving venues through which prepared students meet employers who have a relationship with the School. Developing Career Fairs and promoting on-campus and in-office interviewing
Track interactions between Career Services and students and between students and employers; track successful internship and job placements.
Qualifications: Have a passion for helping students secure employment; willing to do whatever it takes; experience in career counseling/coaching of college students and alumni; experience with all facets of the job search process, including self assessment techniques, networking, interviewing, resume and cover letter preparation, etc.
Possess the ability to initiate a Career Services project and stay involved to bring it to a successful conclusion; works well under pressure
Excellent relationship-building skills; collaborative team player
Corporate and/or professional experience, preferably in a large corporate setting
Professional image; wear appropriate business attire and practice acceptable business etiquette
Professional oral and written communication skills a must.
Computer savvy; especially proficient with MicroSoft Word and PowerPoint, email and the Internet
BS or BA in business or career counseling; master’s degree a plus
