Does she have a water table? Maybe some outside toys...What about a play kitchen. DD has one at my MIL's house and she loves it.

Since we'll give DS a birthday party every year for now we are sticking with a tradition of taking him to Build a Bear for his birthday. That way he has a present from us, it's not too expensive, and it doesn't take up a lot of space

Re: At a loss what to get DD for her 1st birthday...
growing up, we didn't get a gift from our parents. The party was our gift.
DH and I decided this year for Christmas/Birthdays, that when people ask, we'll say a DVD or books. We cannot take anymore toys (and I'm sure he'll still get them anyway). I figured starting a DVD collection would be nice and a space saver!!
But, now that I think about it, I could get more clothes in the larger sizes too (like 2T and such)

I would say clothes for the future...outside toys...toys for her when she is a little older that you can take out in a couple of months.
