At home Christening party
So money is pretty tight so my husband and I are planning on having our son's christening at my parents house (in Bellmore) and get it some-what catered. 2 questions- Do you think its tacky to have the party at a house (its going to most likely be in May) 2.....Does anyone know of any Catering places that I can check in to?
Thnaks!!

Re: At home Christening party
We had ours catered at the house - it was great. But it honestly wasn't any cheaper than going to a restaurant when it was all said and done. Renting tables and chairs, getting decorations, etc... added up.
I think the food part alone was around $1500. They set up, served and cleaned up.

Re: At home Christening party
It is not tacky to have a party at a house. We did that for DD's Christening. Will the christening be in the morning? We had a brunch type part at our house after DD's party. It was definitely the easiest and cheapest party I've held. We did bagels, coffee, scrambeled eggs, quiche, coffee cake, and then a cake for DD.
If you wanted to have it catered, a deli would be able to do for you!

I don't think it's tacky at all, do what you can afford. We had it catered at home and kept it small, I think it turned out just fine.

Re: At home Christening party
Not at all. We had DS #1's Christening in our backyard in June.
But I agree with Tine73...if you are having alot of people and are renting a tent, tables, chair and catering food for a lot of people it is no cheaper than having it out.
If it is a smaller crowd and will only need food and party decorations, it is definetely doable for less.

Re: At home Christening party
We decided to have to it at home. It's going to be in July in our backyard. We're getting a tent tables and chairs but we got an awesome deal so its worth it to us. My family and I are making most of the food though, we're only catering 1 or 2 things.

Not tacky at all! We have a family friend who comes sets up, caters, and cleans up! Had my DS' & DDs' in the backyard. I also like doing house parties because you don't feel "rushed"/have a time limit.
