I'd like to know this too. Katie favors her left hand all the time.

I was told between 1-2 years. We were told Joseph is a true ambidexterous. With Maddie we knew right away that she was right handed because her left thumb was always in her mouth.

They can switch on and off and not have a preference until they are almost 4 years old when they can fine tune their motor skills. This is what I have read.

I've worked with a lot of OTs over the years and this is what they've said too.

This has been my personal experience as well. My older son is 4 and Ive often seen him switch between hands. Now that he is writing letters and such, he always uses his right hand. My DD is 2 however and she always favors her right hand.

I sucked my right thumb when I was a kid and I am right handed

That's interesting. My friend's BF who is family doctor told me that Jordana is a lefty- and she is only 7 months old. I would love her to be ambidextrous.
