At how many weeks can you see a heart beat?
im 6 weeks and i go on thursday to my RE to hopefully see a heartbeat. is it to early? if i dont see one should i be worried?

the most important thing to know right now is that seeing anything is good.
the due date before any type of 'measurement' is kinda wonky... Mine kept ping ponging back and forth until they finally had a heartbeat and measurement...
Do not get your hopes up - but also - don't panic if it's not there yet... TRUST ME - those few days were a NIGHTMARE. We were told that they should see something by now and they didn't....i had to wait 3 days before the next appointment and i cried my eyes out EVERY day of that 3 day wait. Then - guess what??? We saw and heard a heartbeat and all was fine!!!!!

Since you had IVF, the "dating" is more accurate then if you got pregnant naturally. All my sono's with the RE were at 5w4d, 6w4d, 7w4d, etc.. never on the exact week. We did see the heartbeats at 6w4ds. You "should" see it by then.

I saw the heartbeat at my 6w1d sono, but my RE said beforehand that we may or may not see it since it is still early.

I chose to see my Dr at 9 weeks because due to my previous losses I wanted to know if the hearbeat was definitely there. I know 6 weeks it can go either way.

I had my first sono yesterday at exactly 6 weeks and we were able to see and hear the heartbeat! It was so exciting!

Jess is absolutley right.. at my sono yesterday the tech said she was just looking to see a sac at this point. If they see more great if not it may be a few days until they can. The dr's office can only give an estimated due date which is usully off.

we saw and heard the heartbeat at 6wks, so you will more than likely see it. if you don;t - don't freak out, just listen to your doctor. you could be miscalculating how far along you are.

When you go through IVF, there really is not miscalculation. They know exactly how pregnant you are.

I went to my RE after IVF and at 6 weeks 0 days we only saw a sac. It was horrible, they didn't tell me that that may happen so i was worried sick until my next appointment at 7 weeks 0 days when we finally saw the hb. I hope you don't go through the same worries!

my 1st sono was at 8 weeks and they didnt see a heartbeat. i was soo upset. they had me have bloodwork and all and then at 10 weeks they did it again, because my numbers were still increasing, and there it was! DD is a happy and healthy 8 week old! good luck to you and congratulations!
