I have a question though if you have the carseat facing the rear and noone is in the back, how are you supposed to see if god forbid they are choking.
I just ask this cuz someone at my job brought it up. She also said that if noone is in the car with you that the carseat goes in the front facing rear.
I was just wondering that's all...
You can put a mirror on the rear seat that faces you, but casts a reflection of your baby so you can see baby at all times in your rear view mirror. Your co-worker is WRONG. All babies under 1 year of age should be in the rear-facing position AT ALL TIMES for safety reasons, even if no one is in the car with you.
Your co-worker is wrong... in addition to what Beth said, they are also not allowed to be in the front seat ever. One reason, an airbag could go off and hurt the child. Did you get a carseat for the baby yet? If so, you should really read the instructions and get it set up, you are 9 months now no?
I used the rear seat mirror for the baby too, I think there is a pretty slim chance of a baby choking in the car as compared to getting hurt in an accident improperly strapped in.

Rear facing in the front of the car (next to the driver's seat) or rear facing in the backseat of the car. Cuz according to her you can put the carseat facing front even in the backseat of the car.

They never go in the front seat. The air bag can cause severe injury or death.
They are not supposed to be front facing in the back until they are 12 months and 20 lbs. (and many people leave them rear facing longer) as their necks can not handle the impact of an accident, and when they are rear facing they have a lot more support then when forward facing. We kept Sarah rear facing until she was about 14 months and her feet were touching the backseat.

NEVER, NEVER but the baby in the front seat of the car. Until the baby is one years old AND weighs at least 20 or 24lbs (not sure which one) they should be rear-facing in the backseat. When the baby reaches those requirements then you can turn the carseat forward-facing in the backseat. You can place the carseat anywhere in the backseat (behind driver, middle or behind passenger seat). I've read that the middle is the safest.

Re: At least Britney has him in a car seat this time
Thank You Guys! I knew I wasn't crazy. I was trying to tell her that! I haven't had a baby yet but i've heard that the baby must be rear facing in the backseat. Geez she made me think I was loosing my mind. The woman who told me has had two kids too, you'd think she'd know better.
She was like "oh they are picking at every little thing that Spears does". Um hello the idiot is putting the life of her young child in danger! The best part is that she continues to get away with it.

Re: At least Britney has him in a car seat this time
I'm certainly guilty of being overly critical of her, but at the same time I feel like she hired a professional nanny to care for her child, shouldn't this person be able to advise her that she doesn't have him in the car in a safe manner? I understand she hasn't been around kids much, but it feels like she might be poo-pooing all the advice she must be getting (like we all do) and doing it her own way.
It's a shame, since she's so well known she could really be setting a strong example for other new moms as to what is the best way to care for your child. Especially after the last flap with the car, I would have thought she'd have been all over how babies should be placed in a car. JMO.

Not only is the baby facing forward but I bet she didn't put sunscreen on the poor kid and she has the top down. I remember when marissa was that little there was no way to control how her head fell once she fell asleep so the baby's head would be like that even if the seat was facing the right way I think anyway
