At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
DH and I are totally different when it comes to our end of the day rituals. I like to relax and watch TV/surf the net/read a magazine before I take a shower and go to sleep. I also like to chat with him about his day. I like to do all of this after DD has gone to sleep.
DH, on the other hand, is ready for bed as soon as DD is asleep and can fall asleep within a minute of hitting the pillow with no "unwind" time necessary.
So this has me thinking: Do you need to unwind or just pass out from exhaustion?

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
I ABSOLUTELY need to unwind. Unless I'm completely exhausted, it is impossible or me to fall asleep right after putting DS to bed. I need that time to myself, or time with DH, to just relax and "come down" from the day. It's absolutely necessary.

Unwinding is key. Otherwise I can't relax enough to fall asleep easily.

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
Right after Ava goes to bed, it's MY time for the night to unwind, relax and not be bothered. Granted, hubby is usually working, so I really enjoy my time. REALLY enjoy it. I look forward to it all day In fact, it's led to me getting less sleep because I just love to chill and do things. Like tonight, right after Ava went to bed, I reupholstered my dining room chairs, then I surfed the net, then I knit a bit and now I'm going to sit here and veg out and enjoy every moment of it

More than anything else, I want time with Vinny.
Also, I do like to relax and watch some of my fave shows.
Every once in a while I'll have a snack with some wine... whatever it takes to relax a little before bed. I feel like I'm wasting my life if I get up, work, come home, go to bed lol -- lather, rinse, repeat.

This is EXACTLY how I feel and what I do. My tv shows are my thing and after that, its my computer time, reading, talking on the phone...anything that is for ME. I look forward to that time all day long, its my way to unwind and without it, I would never be able to go to bed. My dh on the other hand, knocks out when my daughter does usually (she goes down a little later than most kids) and is fine with that. I dont know how he does it.

Unwind! DH and I both do this. We read before bed usually. If I'm out late on a weeknight and come home and go straight to sleep, I usually have trouble falling asleep because I didn't hve my down time.

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
I am fortunate that I get home around 3:30 & DH walks in the door around 5. I usually unwind for about an hour before starting dinner. Once we clean up from dinner, I then veg out on the couch. We are both usually in bed around 9. But DH just crashes!

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
DH and I are both unwinders, although he will unwind for longer than I will. Esp if there is baseball on tv
I read, waste time on LIF, watch the first few minutes of the news.

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
It really depends on the day. Sometimes I feel like just going home lay on my couch & passing out in front of the tv. With a 8 month old, thats impossible. I really feel like I work more at home that I do at work. Its exhausting.

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
Normall I like to unwind. But I'm also very concious of the time. I like to be in bed no later than 10. So if I'm finished doing what I have to do before I normally unwind and it's about 10, I go right to bed. Or if I come home and it's late I'll go right to bed.
But I usually have plenty of time to sit down and relax and unwind.

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
I have an unusual situation. My husband and I work opposite schedules so when I come home I have my time to unwind and vice versa.
Most of the time I will come home and fall asleep on the couch for an hour or so- then wake up, make dinner and wake him up to go to work.
So I guess I can say that I unwind AND pass out...

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
I don't get the option to unwind anymore. From the time I get home at 6 until about 8 I am taking care of DD. Then as soon as she goes to bed I have to get everything ready for the next day, have something to eat, pay bills, clean up, do laundry, etc. By the time I do sit down it is almost 10 and I need to take a shower and then I have to go to bed.
I do make time on Wed's to watch my favorite TV show. But that is about it for me unwinding.

Re: At the end of the day do you: Unwind or pass out?
If I am done with everything and there is nothing on TV I can pass out. This can be as early as 8PM if DH is working late. Honestly, before we got married some nights I was asleep before 7PM!! ( pre cooking/cleaning/laundry days! )
I miss that SO MUCH!
