At what age can you give a baby water?

My dr. said at our 2 week visit we could give it in small amounts in the heat or for constipation. we always gave it to our dd from like 4 weeks on.

I think it will really depend on the your baby, their weight, height, etc.
My ped okayed for us up to 8oz a day but only between meals. DS was 12 lbs, and 24" at that point.
And eating like a monster.
I never ever gave that much, I give an ounce or two if he's been sweating, or if he's cranky due to the heat. I'll wait another half hour and see if he needs more.
At most I've ever given 4oz in one day.

We gave half an ounce to an ounce in between feedings during the day for my DD. For Chase, I'll give him an ounce here or there if it's hot out.
