At what age did you first take DC to places like the zoo, aquarium, etc.
At what age did you take your DC to places like the zoo, aquarium, the beach, etc. Is one to young for these types of places?

1 yr is not to young for these places, as long as they are safe and comfortable then bring them.... your DC will love it!!
I think my DD 6-7 Months first time to beach. Aquarium-zoo any age.

We took DD to the zoo at 3 weeks old! She is now 11 months and has been there 4 times. She went to the Aquarium at 6 months - we had her in the Baby Bjorn and she LOVED it!

I took DS to the zoo last month (he was 11 months old) and he enjoyed it but was scared of the sheep in the petting zoo. They were SOOOO loud.
We've taken him to walks on the beach in the bjorn and he loved it and we plan on putting him in the sand the next time we go.

We did all of that except for the aquarium last year... the beach at 6 months and the zoo at 7 months. I can't wait to take her back to the zoo because DD LOOOOVES animals.

I live in West Orange, NJ and we have a zoo in my town. DS is 2 /2 and this is my 3rd season with a membership!
He first went to the NY Aquarium in Coney Island when he was about 1 1/2.
You have to know your child though. If they are going to enjoy it, there is no age limit

Just started bringing Kailey to the beach recently and she is 6 months. We will be going to the Zoo and the Aquarium throughout this summer and she'll b e 6-9 months :)

My sons were probably both at zoos and aquariums by 5-6 mos and loved them (aquarium more).

beach 6 months,
aquarium 8 months, he liked it a lot it was a nice day and he enjoyed looking at the fish

I think the zoo and aquarium are great, even for younger infants, just for the visual stimulation.
The beach, I would say after 6 months when they can use sun block.

The beach ditto for 6 months or so for sunblock. Also, I would recommend going early in the day and not on a really hot day--DS got so cranky on hot days at the beach last year, and I think it was the heat.
Zoos or aquariums I would say anytime really.

First took DD to:
Beach 9 months (would have at 6 months if it was warm)
Aquarium 11 months - she was mesmerized.
Sea World 14 months - LOVED IT
Zoo 18 months - this was hit or miss, so many animals were sleeping she was a bit bored but when we saw active ones she was happy.
We continue to go to those places as well as Museums, Farms, Parks, Bouncy Places and things like that.
She loves it all and has a ball on any outing I take her on. Whenever I say "We're going on an adventure today" she know something fun is sure to come and gets so excited. She is now 20 months.

we started doing weekend trips at about 4 months - the boys loved the aquarium at 5 months!

I took DD to the beach at 3 1/2 months and we went to the aquarium when she was around 5 months and she loved it. She loved looking at all the colorful fish.

Our first trip was when DS was 18 months and DD was 3 months...what a nightmare!!!! DS wanted to go into the exbits with the animals and didn't understand why he couldn't join them  . We went to the Philadelphia zoo which is huge and it took us forever to get of out there. We were there for 2 hours and 45 minutes and he cried for 2 hours!!
We went to the NY aquarium in Brooklyn this past Sept. He was 2.5 and MUCH better. It was still warm but school was in session so it wasn't packed. He seemed to enjoy it more and so did DD who was 15 months at the time.
I want to take them back to the zoo but DH is still traumatized
