at what age did you let DC watch TV/videos?
I really don't want my DS to be a TV junkie but my nephew is over right now watching Noggin and I noticed that DS is in his swing in a trance staring right at the TV.
I know this sounds horrible, but he hasn't stayed still and quite for this long ever! I just got a shower and breakfast in and not a peep from him (yes, I realize it's noon).
Is 10 wks too young to start letting him watch things like Baby Einstein?

Sarah didn't watch until she was a little over 1 year old. When Andy was an infant I used to have it on to distract Sarah while I was caring for him. I'd talk to them about what was going on while it was on.

About 3 days.
Him in a bouncy with Baby Einstein is the only way I got anything done in the first 3 months.
I would say he watches 30-90 minutes of TV per day. Backyaridgans and Sesame Street or Baby Einstein DVDS.

Re: at what age did you let DC watch TV/videos?
There is probably no harm in letting him watch Baby Einstein for 20 min or so here and there, but I really wouldn't make it a habit. There is some research out there that indicates that a lot of TV exposure at a young age is not good.
DS started watching shows like Sesame Street around 18 months. I wanted to wait until he was 2, but he likes it so much and it's not all that often, so it's fine with me.

I could have written this lol.. she would go in her swing in front of the TV to watch Baby Einstein if I had to get something done

Re: at what age did you let DC watch TV/videos?
My DS is 7.5 months old now. I kept saying that we didn't want him to watch until he was a year old.
But... I have now let him watch a Baby Einstein video about 5 times over the last month while he was in his exersaucer so that i could get a few things done.
And the TV is on when my husband and I get home and play with him in the living room. I live in a 1 BR apt - not many other rooms to play with him.
Hope there is no irreparable damage!

Re: at what age did you let DC watch TV/videos?
I would say I started TV (noggin, etc) with DS somewhere between 6-12 months.
Before that I wasn't hard-core anti-TV, I just didn't feel I "needed" it for him. All the baby did was stay in one place anyway. By the time he turned six months, DS was actively crawling so that's when it started to be nice to have something that would hold his attention or keep him still for a short period of time.

Around 3 months is when she started paying attention to tv. Now she is over 4 months and she watches a 30 minute baby einstein dvd once a day a couple of days a week.
