At what age did you use teething biscuits? And scary story
Dd is 6.5 months old and has been doing great with solids. We gave her A teething biscuit yesterday and she did awesome with it- till a piece broke off. It was the scariest moment of my life. I reached in and got it out but a piece had already gone down. I flipped here over fast and smacked her back. I either got it out or it went down, but when dh had her 2 little tears were rolling down her face She wasn't crying but they were tears you get when you gag.
Needless to say she won't be getting anymore. My ped said to give her a toasted bagel but even that now I'm afraid of.

Re: At what age did you use teething biscuits? And scary story
its so scary when stuff like that happens. glad shes ok! i never really gave dd any bc of the reason she prob would stick the whole thing in her mouth.. now at 11m she will have a cracker and be ok with it on her own. still anything could happen.
I gave her an end to the end of load of Italian bread (w. no seeds) that was hard . (I would leave it out for a day or so) also pizza crust, but that gets softer faster.

Mum Mum's. that's what you need to get. They're Rice Rusks, and pretty much dissolver pretty quickly, and help with teething and aren't too messy.
We started them at 5-6 months.

Re: At what age did you use teething biscuits? And scary story
I almost bought teething biscuits yesterday for DS to try (he's 8 months) but the box said they were for toddlers so I decided against it. After reading this, I will def NOT be buying them!! Sorry that happened but thanks for sharing.

Yes you can! My DD didn't get her first teeth until she was 11 months old. I started giving her mum mums when she was 6 months old.
To the OP I never gave either of my kids teething biscuits just for that reason. My ped also told us not to give them because they are a choking hazard.
I'm glad your DC is okay!

Re: At what age did you use teething biscuits? And scary story
At 7 months I still haven't given her a teething biscuit or anything solid (besides her baby food puree). I was at target and was looking into it until I read the box and it says they are ready to have that when they are crawling and can feed themselves. Sometimes I crumble puffs in her baby food.
Glad she is ok!!!

Re: At what age did you use teething biscuits? And scary story
Teething biscuits dissolve way too quickly. I cut a bagel in four and either put it in the freezer or leave it out to get stale/stiff. Or the end of an Italian bread loaf..my DC's loved it and never had a choking problem.

I still don't give teething biscuits at 14m.
Mum Mums are really different, they melt in their mouths and so easy to mash with gum. Its kind of like dried cotton candy made with rice and sugar.
I found Magic Pop at Fairways, its very similar to it in texture and doesn't contain sugar.

Such a scary moment, I'm glad she's okay. DD gagged on a teething biscuit at 8 months and I never tried again

Re: At what age did you use teething biscuits? And scary story
i second mum-mums. my ped is also anti-teething biscuits - said they're a huge choking hazard at our 6 or 9 month visit. MIL started giving them to dd at about a year old w/out my knowledge. MIL does watch her like a hawk and she does fine with them now (almost 16 months) - she actually really likes them when she is teething now because they're hard - but i was pretty peeved at first.
