At what age did your DC start watching TV

I've been seeing some posts about fav shows and about people using Sesame Street characters as themes for parties and it got me thinking at what age did you DC start watching Sesame street? Cartoons? Ellie's never seen Sesame Street or anyting other than an occasional Baby Einstein video b/c I didn't think she was old enough but maybe I'm wrong? Chat Icon

Lauren does not take interest in the TV at all. Andrew didn't either, until he was nearly 2. But that is because I never turned it on for him. He began to learn characters from books we would read or games we would play. Now he's a TV hound, so I limit him and make him turn it off after he's watched his show (or two!). Lauren is too busy getting into things, but I hope to keep her away until almost 2 as well.

Re: At what age did your DC start watching TV

My first one didn't really know from TV until he was about 2.
My little one has been watching TV since his first day on earth because of his big brother.
My little guy is 21 months and LOVES Shark Tale and Madagascar!! He wakes up every morning and says, "MOVIE please!"

He cracks up at all the pertinent parts too!! It's really funny.

Giada LOVES tv. she takes an interest in the wonder pets and blues clues. the other shows she falls asleep too. I give her TV time from 10 to 12 with interaction from me. I have been doing this since she's about 5 weeks old. She is very alert and I wanted to start her early with her motor skills and it has worked. I also have baby einstein videos, that she watches in the late afternoon.
DD is 10 weeks today.

Andrew has been interested in TV since about 3 months old.

He really only loves shows with music in them or of course cartoons.

Re: At what age did your DC start watching TV

Brendan turns one next week and he still doesn't really watch tv. I try not to have it on because I'd rather have him playing and learning from his environment than sitting in front of the tv. Occasionally if I need to get something done around the house I'll put it on but otherwise it's not really on. He does love to watch, but it's just my preference not to have it on. If he watches anything it's usually his Baby Babble DVD, which he goes nuts for, but that one I'm okay with because it was developed by some fellow speech pathologists and I think it's a really great video for stimulating language. His birthday is next week and I'm doing a Baby Einstein theme more because he loves the animals than he knows what it is. Back to your question, I think she's old enough it's just up to you whether you want her to watch or not. Brendan's not interested in cartoon-like shows or sesame street unless there's some catchy music. Baby Einstein stuff is still more captivating.

DS LOVES TV!

He'll be playing in his exercauser and when the Backyardigans comes on...he'll stop whatever he's doing, face the TV and start jumping with his hands flying in the air...it's hysterical.

My nanny usually has the news on when i get home, and he'll be watching intently, like he totally understands Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

DS is 9 months old, but I'd say he showed an interest around 3 months.

Charlie has been watching the View and All My Children since he was 3 months old. Seriously, he loves the TV and I usually have to turn it off or turn his back to it. The only thing I really "let" him watch is Baby Einstein.

Sarah didn't until she was 1. Andy will watch now with her, but doesn't have a lot of interest, he'll tune out and play with toys or whatever mainly.

Sydney doesnt have much interest in the TV. When we are trying to get ready in the morning we put on Sesame Street but she doesnt really pay that much attention to it. We also play for her some Baby Einstein DVDs and she seems to like the animals from it.

She started at a few weeks old. I started her off with BE - Baby Motzart after her morning bottle. Now I sometimes I put on Noggin during the day for her.

I try to limit their tv time. My oldest DD didn't start until she was around 2, and my 18 mo old doesn't even care about the tv.

I have been exposing Jacob to Tv since he was a month old. He is 14 months old now and in all that time he could care less about TV. I keep noggin on while he plays with toys, but for the most part it grabs his attention here and there for 5 , 10 min tops, but after that, he's off to empty out my cabinets AGAIN!!

Re: At what age did your DC start watching TV

Ella doesn't really watch TV. If its on, it'll catch her interest for a minute or two, but I don't put it on for her or play children's shows.

I tried once with Baby Einstein, and she wasn't that into it. Which is fine with me - I'd rather put off her TV addiction for as long as possible, and I don't look forward to having to watch Noggin, Blues Clues, etc.

My son has been watching Seamae Street for a few months now, he gets excited when its Elmo's Time. That's about all he watches, sometimes a Baby Einstein DVD.
