At what age does/did DC move to a bed?

I'm not rushing it - we are just trying to figure out if/when we start TTC #2 if we'd need to get a new crib.

We are thinking before she's 2 - I think that's too young for a bed right? I have no idea

I am preggo with #2 due in Janueary. DD is 16.5 months we are thinking of putting her in a bed in September. SHe will be 18 months. Everyone I spoke to did it earlier. We'll see how it goes.

I am one for keeping them in their crib as long as possible. Sammy was in a crib until he was almost 3( he liked it) at that time he figured out how to get in and out himself. Sara will be also be in a crib as long as possible. I guess if your having another early then switing is a good thing and it saves money on buying a new crib

Jules is 28 months, refuses to give the crib up.

My son was 22 months when he got his big boy bed. He would have stayed in his crib a lot longer, but #2 came along and I did not want two cribs

22 months he got his own twin bed. He refused to sleep in the crib, would climb out and sleep on the floor.

I just moved my son - he was jus under 2.5. The only reason I did was to get him in before the new baby comes. He loved his crib so I was in no rush. I think it depends on the kid and how the sleep in the crib.

My daughter is 26 months and still happily in her crib. I'm 20 weeks pregnant. I'm not moving her out anytime soon. I figure I can use a bassinet for at least a few months after the baby is born, which will get me past her 3rd birthday if she hasn't started climbing out!

Too many of my friends are getting middle of the night visits from their bed-sleeping toddlers that I'm going to wait until the last possible moment to switch!!

I had a crib jumper at 18 months so he moved to an IKEA toddler bed, which is smaller than a twin, but bigger than a regular toddler bed. It is kind of like a twin bed that is lower to the ground. I also keep a child-prrof doorknob protector on the inside of his door so he can't get out an wander at night.

Anway, it worked out well for us since Molly was born when Jack turned 2, so I didn't have to buy another crib.

I have friends whose 3 year olds are still in cribs and are completely happy.

Both my kids were under 2 when they moved to a bed. Be sure to ultra baby proof their rooms and put a tension gate in their doorway at night. And a bedside rail if they need it. Both times I happened to need the crib for the next baby but they were ready and while it was harder at first, the novelty of getting out of bed wears off for them soon enough.

We are going to start TTC # 2 and DD is 15 months now, so when #2 comes along, I'm going to move her right into a bed, I can't see getting another crib.
