I was just curious. Last night DH and I were discussing it. I'm not saying to stop acknowledging their birthdays. I would never do that to DS. I'm saying at what age would you stop doing the birthday parties with the family and friends?

Of course sweet 16's are an exception...

I would think it would depend on the child and whether or not they have a big group of friends.

Some kids reach a point where they would rather do something small with a few friends and not have a party.

I am not setting a date to stop.

Same for me...as long as I can afford to throw them each a party I will continue to have them.

DO you mean out at a place? Well my niece is 12 and I know she prefers her party to be something smaller scale, like a sleep over. I think you will klnow when it is time, or your kid will. I am sure you will celebrate, but they may choose something different, maybe a trip to great adventure or a movie or sleepover. They do grow out of those party places eventually.

I don't know exactly but I'm thinking that in a few years - when my oldest is 8 or so - I can start doing a birthday thing where I take the birthday kid and 2 or 3 friends out. And we can do a family cake & stuff ourselves as well but I don't want to be doing big parties for a long time...I will not be able to afford it with 3 kids and these crazy prices for parties.
