At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

Hi everyone! I am 22 weeks and dont feel my baby moving! I already had the Level 2 and everything was fine.
Should I be worried?

Thanks!

I wouldn't be worried - every woman is different. You might have felt it and not realized that's what it was!

Don't freak out -- I didn't feel much movement until almost 26 wks. Everyone is different.

Re: At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

Thanks everyone! I get the weekly pregnancy emails and I read ahead to next week where it said I may be able to see my stomach moving. I cant feel a thing, let alone see the movement yet.

Ignore a lot of stuff in those emails. Chat Icon

If I went by everything they said I should be experiencing at different points, I'd go NUTS.

We all have different bodies and babies. Eventually you will be saying "alright kid...ENOUGH!"

The same thing happened to me, all of a sudden I didn't feel the baby moving as much. I tried the juice...nothing. I started to get myself crazy. Then I ate some goldfish and the baby bounced around.

As far as stomach movement, I didn't see that for the first time until about 28 weeks. I think you're still really early for that.

Re: At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

At my last appoint (19 weeks) I was asked about movement and I went on and on about how I haven't felt a thing and that I read you could feel the baby as early as 16 weeks. The nurse explained that it usually starts around 20 weeks, but everyone is different. She said that being it was my first all of my muscles and skin is really tight (being in shape doesn't dictate tight) and that it takes longer for first timers because it takes a lot for the little tiny baby to push through all the tight muscles and for me to feel it. It made me feel better, but I still CAN'T WAIT to feel this baby!!!!!!Chat Icon

You may have an anterior placenta, like I do, where most of the kicks and movement are absorbed before they're felt.

They said that I will feel movement, maybe not as strongly or as soon. I'm about 20 weeks and I've felt flutters, but I can't wait to feel kicks!!

I'm sure everything's fine!Chat Icon

Re: At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

I didnt feel my first DD until almost 23w! I made myself crazy for weeks waiting for it! so i know how you feel. now with #2 I have been feeling movement for a few weeks now. I am 22 weeks but it is still no consistent. and it was really never consistent with DD either and I was a nervous wreck the whole pregnancy. I also had/have anterior placenta with both pregnancies.

By 28-30 w you should be feeling the baby regularly.

Not all babies move all the time, so you won't feel them all the time. Mine was particularly docile during the day but busy around bedtime.

LOL I could have wrote that post myself about 2 weeks ago. When I was 22 weeks I kept saying to DH "Hmm... I don't feel flutters anymore. Tell the baby to do something for me." And what do ya know, 1 week later I don't feel flutters but I do feel like a bunch of bubbles are popping inside! (Baby's hiccups?). Don't stress.

Re: At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

I started feeling very random barely there movements around 23 weeks...I didn't feel them consistently till around 26-27 weeks.....

DS was not a big mover AT ALL........he was mellow my whole pregnancy..I would be so upset reading these boards because I felt like everybody was having sleepless nights due to baby kicking except me.

Re: At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

My dr said to start paying close attention to baby movements after 28 weeks.

Before that, I was able to encourage movement with ICE COLD water and laying on my side. I'd do that if I got nervous I hadn't felt the baby move in a while.

Re: At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

I started feeling flutters at 18w, but it has not been consistent. I actually went in on Friday because I was not feeling them as much and got worried. He said I would not feel them consistently until at least 25 w. I am 24 now. My doc said eat candy or play music then they will move.

at 22 weeks i wouldnt be worried. I didnt feel the baby moving constantly until i was 25 weeks - at that point she was moving everyday.

Re: At what point would you be nervous if you didnt feel baby moving?

I would only be worried if there is a big decrease in movement after around 28 weeks or so. I didn't feel my first DD until between 20 and 22 weeks, and it was not like I was feeling her all the time then. I had an anterior placenta, and it was hard for me to feel her. My second DD I felt all the time. At around 38-39 weeks I felt her a lot less. The dr noticed it too, and they were concerned at that point. It's really the decrease in movement that can be worrisome.
