I’d buy cards to mail out from the stationery store that was further away but owned by an Asian family. Anything I could do to keep an Asian owned business afloat. We had a lunatic in charge running around calling COVID “China virus.” This is an entire population who has suffered immensely. Physical attacks, people boycotting their businesses, being called derogatory terms. It’s horrific.
I have several Asian American friends and I am so sad and scared for them.

I am so sorry you had to protect your beautiful kids from so much hatred and ignorance and that it only seems to be growing. This shooter can say whatever he wants now, but his choice of people to target and his stereotypical conception of them is very much intertwined with anti Asian bigotry on many levels.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. I can't imagine. We all want to keep our children safe and then to have something on top of the typical stressors has to be awful.
The killer can say what he wants but I am sure his lawyer told him to claim he's a sex addict to try to minimize the chances of being charged with a hate crime.
Crimes and attacks against Asians have been on the rise for obvious reasons and it's terrible.
I'll add also that true addicts really only care about their addiction. Sex addicts might screw everyone and cheat on their spouses but they generally don't go around killing people. I'm not saying addicts can't be killers; I'm saying they aren't more likely to be killers than anyone else. It's a deflection tactic and a pretty transparent one.
And apparently he drove around quite far to find these women, in the process passing strip clubs and seedy places where he could have encountered non Asian victims.
He's an evil, sociopathic, racist killer.

Also, racial bias and hatred is as multi-dimensional as it is evil. Intersectionality means that the combination of race and sex and stereotypes can cultivate the victimization of a subgroup and it's still racially motivated. The fact that they were Asian was a big part of the equation, imo.

So are they lying about the motive or are we saying he hated being attracted to Asians so he did this disgusting thing? Or was this a hate crime period? The reports are all over the place and I don’t trust the media.
I also agree with the disgusting hate that has grown for Asians since the pandemic. America can be such a vile and disgusting country.
I’m happy my son goes to a predominately Asian school and the community was very supportive. People asked me if I was going to take him out of school when this all began because of that. Dumb @sses.

Hate crime, plain and simple. Our former leader was so eloquent when he referred to the virus that this was not a coincidence.
However, he having an Asian fetish, probably felt he needed to kill these women to somehow cleanse himself knowing the hatred of the race at the moment.
There’s so much more psychologically to this than just a hate crime. Like when a closet gay man bullies the openly gay man in front of his friends. But hate is definitely a HUGE factor!

Absolutely horrendous. I truly feel for his victims' families. And did you see the commentary from the chief of police? That was pretty alarming. He sounded like he had sympathy for this psychopath!
Every day I see more stories of Asians being attacked on the news and it is so upsetting.
But, on another note, I hope his "motive" brings more attention to the sex trafficking that goes on. It's so inhumane. I stopped going to Asian owned salons after I saw a documentary about these poor people being indentured servants. It's disgusting. They get paid pennies, if anything. I also recall being at Avalon probably 15 years ago and all of these Asian girls (yes! girls! like 12-15 years old) SITTING ON THE FLOOR in the unisex bathroom with a guy standing with them. My DH, then my BF, had to explain to me that they were being prostituted in the bathroom. I almost vomited. They were so young.
