Atlantis Marineworld
Has anyone been to Atlantis in Riverhead?? I was wondering if it's worth a trip for the day. I was thinking of going there tomorrow with my DH. I've been to Atlantis in the Bahamas and that Aquarium is awesome! I just don't want to take the ride and be disappointed!

Re: Atlantis Marineworld
We took my daughter there last year and I will say that we really enjoyed ourselves. I know that a couple of years ago it was REALLY small and I remember my Mom going and saying don't go. But when we went last summer I will say that it was smaller than Coney Island but definitely ENJOYABLE IMO not too small that you were like where is the rest of it but small enough that you can see everything in one day and take your time.
Hope that helps.

Re: Atlantis Marineworld
It's a nice little aquarium! My Dad did the Shark Dive Encounter a few weeks ago!
It's not huge. Not like going to the big ones. ....quicker, smaller exibits. We have made it through in about 2- 2 1/2 hours. But Riverhead is fun anyway....there a few nice places for lunch within walking distance!
Enjoy the day!

Re: Atlantis Marineworld
it is alot bigger this year, and yes one day is enough, shark dive is seperate(155.00) and you also can go snorkeling (forgot the price) there is the boat ride to the other island, not too sure of that price either. you can check the web site for that, you can buy food(2.00) to feed the stingrays and sharks(baby sharkes) this is what i can think of right now,if i rememeber anything else i will let you know
eta: at the end of the day you can also take a back tour to hear about the rescue animals they have there

Re: Atlantis Marineworld
Janet -- do you know how much general admission is?
We used to get in for free the first season it was built but I never went with my parents --- his company provided the big tanks they use outside so they got in for free. I don't even know if they still use the same tanks!

Re: Atlantis Marineworld
We've been there a few times and we're going again next week w/ some friends. It does get "better" each time we go.
I believe the admission price is about $16 pp. The only coupon I've seen so far is for 10% off (at McDonalds).

I'm pretty sure MelTodd took Julia there around that age... we should ask her for tips.
