ATM debit card/credit card # stolen
This happened to me while I was in Florida and I just got back. Apparently someone was trying to use my card but they were declined bc they didnt have the security code on the back (thats what TFCU told me). OK, so they closed down the credit card/debit card # and told me thats all that is needed. So here on in am I safe? or should I close down my acct and re open?

They can change the number without closing the account. I believe that should cover it, I think.
Sorry that it happened to you, but glad they caught it!!!

P-this happened to Chris last summer on our joint account.
All you have to do is get a new card, you don't have to close the account. It is a big PITA and thank god they caught it!

Re: ATM debit card/credit card # stolen
Unfortunately, I would say, no, you're not done.
do you have any idea how they got your CC#? If some salesclerk secretly swiped the card and sold the # then you're in the clear... But, if someone got your # from the internet or by hacking your computer, then other cards could be affected in the future.... trust me, I speak from experience .
Some dudes in FL tried to buy $200 in gas with my visa card in sept. visa caught it, and re-issued me a new card #.... all's in the clear? nope.... 5 weeks later, my ebay and paypal accts were hacked and some dude in CA tried to buy 12k of computers and cameras on ebay using my checking acct.... my credit union only caught it when an e-check bounced.... Only now is my paypal acct on the cusp of full-reactivation.
I gave up, and now pay for a credit protection service through one of my credit cards. I don't want to spend hours on the phone dealing with experian, visa, credit union.....
I suspect my computer was hacked, and some keystroke program captured my passwords and card # info...... (I will say I have always had very good fire walls /antivirus / antispyware programs... but no program is unhackable...)
just wanted to give you a warning of what can happen
