Attitude/Raising Voice---typical for a 3 year old...GRRR!!!
Ok, I have a smart little 3 year old, sometimes TOO smart for his own good. Well he's begun to have quite the little attitude, repeating my correction words, etc. He also will raise his voice.
Like for instance if I say "knock it off", he'll repeat it back to me telling me to knock it off. then if I say "you're not being a good listener" he screams "I am listening"...etc
I know this is major payback as I was a little attitude bird as a child.
I know everyone tells me 3 is worse than 2 and I am feeling that, but do you still do time outs for attitude things?
he's getting so stubborn.
Signed a 8 month pregnant exhausted mama!!

I let DS listen to Yackety Yak on youtube. Then when he starts to approach the line, I say, "yackety yak" and he says, "don't talk back". It sort of reminds him of his manners before it goes too far.
If it does go too far, he goes in time out for talking back.
I have also been reminding him of a nice way to ask and a fresh way to ask.

my DD started this a little over 2, and my DSs therapists say its totally normal.. its them testing the waters to see how far they can push you.
at 2.5 i still see it in my DD but its starting to fade so it will soon pass...

Ds is almost 3.5 and answers everyone back! He yelled at his coach one day, answers his teacher back, my mom! no one is immune to my ds's 'Tude. I don't put him in time outs for that,I just remind him not to answer back, which results in more banter. I like to save time outs for drastic measures. We don't know what to do with him, and his 21 month old brother is almost as bad
