attmpting potty training this week...

Im another teacher who thought this is a good opportunity to give it a try with my 2 yo daughter. My question is that I am asking her pretty much every 20 minutes if she needs to go and usually she will say yes, and sit on the potty and right away she will go a little bit. She does ask me for the potty too, but usually I am the one initiating when she sits. How do I get her to go longer in between? Should I not be asking her as much> She honestly probally went like 16 times today!

We started this week but we definitely don't ask DD that often. I usually give her an hour or two and then I ask her. She has asked me a few times already. Just keep reinforcing the idea that peeing happens on the potty.

Good luck!

I figured tommorrow I will ask less often.
Are you using regular undies, or pull ups?
I am kinda afraid to go out too far from the house, and I am trying to go right after she uses the potty.

thanks for your quick response!

Well, I honestly think that every half hour to forty minutes you should ask in the very beginning, however, I also think that you should go straight to underwear. That is what I did with my dd and it was fine. As far as going out, just do it! Do it, but be prepared for an accident by lining the car seat with something and bringing extra clothes. I also brought a potty seat that I kept in the trunk of my SUV so that we could pull over and use it if need be. It worked great! Good luck!
