Attn BTDT Moms of Babies with Tubes.. Or any other advice
My son is now on his 5th ear infection since NOVEMBER.... This is getting exhausting and so frustrating for him as well as Mommy... Have any of your DCs had experience with getting tubes? Did they help with the infections? What was their recovery like? Is it a grueling day? How long does it last? Sorry for so many questions, I just feel that when the babysitter called me today with this new ear infection (possible) I about lost it. I am seriously in tears here at work... WTH?
Any help/advice/info is MUCH appreciated...
TIA!

Re: Attn BTDT Moms of Babies with Tubes.. Or any other advice
Sydney had 8 ear infections and some hearing deficits and then had tubes put in. This was almost a year ago and knock on wood no problems and no ear infections since! Her hearing and speech have improved so much. The surgery was fast. The worst part was watching them put her under. She was groggy coming out of it but was fine within minutes. Obviously, I recommend it.

Thank you so much for responding! Was she "herself" that day after the surgery? Or was she obviously in pain? I don't know how I'm going to be able to let them take my baby from me for surgery (if it comes to that...)

I agree w/this completely. Tubes were the best thing we could have done for him. IT takes 15 minutes - they cry waking up after surgery but not from pain. They take a looong nap and are perfectly normal afterward. It was surprisingly simple esp. after how scared we were to do it. Surgery? Anesthesia? Sounds very scary but soooooo soo worth it.

My little one Andrew used to have cronic ear infections. He had tubes put in.. The worst part about the whole ordeal was watching him be put to sleep by the Dr. in the operating room. Other than that it was fine. The surgery doesn't take that long . And he has not had one ear infection since. well maybe one in 3 years . It was well worth it to do it.

Thanks, everyone. I'm trying not to count my chickens before they hatch as they say, but am sooooooooo tired of these ear infections, and I know my little man is too....
