At 2 they can receive EI services in a school setting. My son has a speech delay and other delays. He's 2 and he goes to brookville in NHP. I don't know any schools in queens and I don't know which ones service children with Autism. She should ask her service coordinator for a list and then maybe someone could help from there.

Re: autism school in queens?
My DS is almost 2.5 and also has pdd. We though a lot about putting him in school. However when we looked into it we decided against it.
First she has to find out exactly how many hr of services he will recieve because at 2 years old the school are only 2 hrs each 5 days a week. So as using my DS as an example he recieved 10 hrs of aba 2 hrs of Ot and 2 hrs of speech as you can see there would be no way possible for a school to give him all these services when the school is only 10 hrs a week. Unless she does school and at home care. Either way she needs to get on the phone with her cordinator. She will give her a list of schools to look at. Also they will provide bus to and from home.
The school we saw were Crossroads i loved it Little meadows ( in fresh meadows) loved it too. Personal Touch- Long wait list and I wasn't crazy about it.

Re: autism school in queens?
your friends child can still receive as many services home on top of school.
i will use my DS as an example.. he is ASD...
he turned 2 Aug 15.
he goes to school (3 days a week - we didnt want him in 5 days) for 2.5 hours a day.
get 10 ABA at home, 3 speech at home & 3 OT at home.
i know they bus into Nassau, where DS goes there are a few children from queens, and he goes to school in plainview.
