Awww no balloons tomorrow huh?
I hate when this happens. So sad. Not that I Want them to go up in bad weather but its so sad when they dont. I cant even imagine being a kid at the parade and not being able to see the balloons go up.

They just said on the news that the balloons will be grounded but dont mark my words. I could have heard wrong.

I just heard on the news that they want to see how the winds are tomorrow, because of the accident last year when one of the balloons ropes hit the light that injured some people on the ground.

Ok its not definite yet. Channel 7 just said the winds will be between 23-35 mph which will cause the balloons not to go up. I hope they are wrong.

thats so frustrating.
i'm sure theyve had the balloons up in even windier conditions... but b/c someone got hurt (and probably sued like crazy).. now its ruined for Everyone

Winds may reach 20 miles (32 kilometers) per hour tomorrow, just shy of the 23 mph threshold at which parade organizers and the New York Police Department pull the cartoon characters out of the 2.5-mile-long parade, according to Macy's spokeswoman Elina Kazan. A lower altitude allows the dozens of handlers manning each balloon better control, she said.

Well, they might as well shut it down if there are no balloons. That's basically the point. Who wants to stand out there and freeze to watch the Women's Auxillary of Basketweaving go by on a float!

Didn't someone get very seriously injured a few years ago?
ETA-I found it--it was 1997- she was in a coma for a month.
That's when they started get more strict about it.
Also the family from the 2005 incident actually didn't sue ( i'm alittle surprised actually)
