Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
Okay - so my 3.5 month old loves the pacifier but mommy isn't getting any sleep - because the darn thing keeps falling out of her mouth during the night and mommy has been getting up at least 10 times a night just to stick it back in her mouth. She's not hungry - just wants to soothe herself back to sleep.
Help!!! is this what the mommies with babies and pacifers go through?? How are you coping with so little sleep??
My first daughter hated the pacifier so i didn't go through this - just wondering what other mommies experiences have been.

Re: Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
Well DS likes his pacifier too....he is usually ok if it does fall out, but just in case, I put 2-3 extra ones in a circle above and around his head so if he reaches out, he can get one and put it back in. HTH!

Re: Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
Two out of three of my children took the binki however I never had a problem. If it fell out they would still sleep or just put it back in their mouth. Sorry I know I'm not much help but I have heard of people putting a few of them in the crib with them so they are able to find one. (not sure if 3 mos is too yound for that though) Good Luck

Re: Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
We went through this for a couple of weeks. We would take turns getting up and popping it back in. Eventually, when DD was a little older, we just put a bunch in the crib and she could do it herself. At 3.5 months, that won't happen for a while though.

This happened w/ my DD too for a while, probably around the same age. She'd wake up 3-4x a night looking for it. We just got up & popped it back in & thankfully I was able to fall right back asleep. It lasted for a month maybe. Now at 7 months we have a few in there & she's able to put it back in or just sleeps w/o it.

Re: Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
same here. Up every few hours to "re-plug", left several in the crib, and eventually DD figured it out. It was rough though before she figured out how to stretch her arm out, grab the one that fell out, and put it back in.....

Re: Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
we had the same issue... for a few days we decided to wean the nighttime paci, and it actually worked for a day or two, but it was SO much harder to get him to fall asleep that we reverted back to it. we have to go put it back in in the middle of the night once or twice. now, at 4.5 months we are approaching a point where he can find it and put it back in himself.

Re: Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
DS is doing the EXACT same thing!!!!
There's no way I'm going to continue to get up every hour to shove that bink back in.....I did it 2 nights in a row and got no sleep!
Last night he fussed a little and I let him, he conked out on his own.....even when I thought he wouldn't. Try it, it may work for you too....DS is 3.5 months and swaddled at night, so there's no reaching for it even if he could.....

Re: Babies with pacificers - PLEASE HELP!
OMG this was my life for MONTHS. DD did this since she was like 3 months till 7 months .. never got any better!! She used to sleep right next to me (till 4 months, in her bassinet) and it wasn't an issue then as she and I would both fall right back to sleep. HOWEVER, once we transitioned her to her crib, which is a floor below ours (~8 steps), DH and I were running up and down those steps ALL FREAKIN NIGHT long. At first it was bearable, but eventually it wears on you. We did do the 'scatter pacifiers about her crib' thing and it DID work at first ... BUT - eventually she didn't fall back asleep after putting it back in. It just got SO bad that we eventually had no choice but to let her CIO. It was a BIG decision, but I have to say, it has worked wonders and now we don't hear from DD for 12 hours once we put her down. Pretty amazing, if you ask me!
Sorry for the way long-winded response.
