Baby + Bath Time = Cries!

We give our DD a bath about 2-3 times a week. She hates it and starts to cry as soon as we place her in the tub. We ensure the water is at the perfect temperature (as recommended), but it makes no difference - the watre can be hot, warm or cold and she will still scream.

DD is 3 months old. Does it get better? Is there something I can do differently to help her?

I want her to enjoy water, but right now, she detests it!

I wrote the same post at the same age! At some point, they do outgrew the terror and most start to love it. I think by 6 months he was playing with the bubbles and sitting up in the water. Hang in there!

Try a wet and warm facecloth on her chest and belly. That helped both my kids.

Re: Baby + Bath Time = Cries!

for us it was the temp

The recommended temp was just too darned cold. My poor baby went from wiggly and alright to a screaming mess. She hated them.. screamed the whole time through. We made them as fast as possible and she was shaking with sobs afterwards. It was heartbreaking.

Finally I said screw the experts.. and put warmer water in. not my warm but I like hot.. Jim prefers cooler warm. So i went with his warm. I could call it comforter warm. Like just warm enough you'd think 5mins later it will be too cool but cool enough to leave your hand in there without much worry at all. Point is WARMER. And sure enough not a peep. And no drama since.

i have the 4moms cleanwater bath tub that has the built in thermometer and i swear DD loves the bath because of that thing. It makes the water the perfect temp for her

For us, it was the opposite. We kept making the water warmer thinking DS was just cold. One day, we made it colder and ta da, he stopped crying!

DD was the same way...then, I realized we had this...

Bath Luve Fish Towel

and she was totally fine in the bath! She even started to (gasp!) like it! Now she doesn't need the cloth and loves bath time.
