Baby Can't Fall Asleep on her Own?
Anyone's infant still not able to fall asleep on their own (for naps, bedtime) in the crib? If so, how old is baby? DD is 3.5 months and still has to be soothed to sleep before we can put her down for naps/bed time...however, if we are out & about, she will fall asleep in her car seat or the stroller.
Is there something we should be doing to get her to fall asleep on her own, or is it ok that she doesn't yet?
Thanks
ETA: So I just saw that I posted about this a few months ago It came up in the related searches But I'd welcome any new input or stories!

I was and am not able to do CIO (your dd is too young for that anyway) so I rock my dd tyo sleep every night
It usually takes about 10-15 minutes but due to teething sometimes it takes much longer than that
I cannot listen to her cry though

Re: Baby Can't Fall Asleep on her Own?
I think right around that time DD didn't want me to rock her to sleep anymore for bedtime...It just happened on it's own. You can try CIO/Ferber closer to 5 months...
As for naps... DD only napped in her stroller, carseat, swing, bouncy etc until she was around 7 or 8 months... I always tried the crib but it never worked...
She'll come around for you

Re: Baby Can't Fall Asleep on her Own?
I typically do have a routine, DD is 3 months old. We start w/ feeding her, then I read her a story & then I swaddle her & rock her in the glider for about 5-10 minutes; sometimes she goes out, sometimes she is still groggy but awake & I put her in the crib & 9 times out of 10 she'll fall asleep on her own.
Good luck!

Re: Baby Can't Fall Asleep on her Own?
C- my DS does the same thing with naps. as i am typing i am holding him he only falls asleep for naps on his own when he is in the carseat/stroller. at home, i have to rock him and to try and put him in the crib or rocker, he will only remain napping for like 30-40 min. thank god its only for naps. at night, we swaddle him and put him in his co-sleeper awake or asleep and hes great about going right to bed. let me know though if you figure out this nap thing though as i would love for him to go down on his own (and i feel hes way to young for CIO)

Re: Baby Can't Fall Asleep on her Own?
I would try swaddling her. DS is also 3.5 months and can fall asleep on his own now. My routine is at night:
Bath Feeding Bedtime Story Then bed.
I think he is getting used to the routine plus the bath helps him to sleep very well.

Re: Baby Can't Fall Asleep on her Own?
My DD is 3 1/2 months and needs to be rocked to sleep for naps and nighttime (if she doesn't fall asleeping BFing, which most of the time she does). I also cannot put DD down in her crib for a nap - she wakes up right away. SOMETIMES I can put her in the bouncy or swing, but not always. I look forward to her growing out of this.

My DS only occasionally falls asleep on his own. But it's very rare.

My DS used to do this too. She's responding to the removal of the warmth of your body. Try putting your hands gently on her stomach and then slowly decrease the pressure. (It's really hard to explain in words how this works. I hope you understand what I mean.) You can also try lowering her down slowly while still maintaining contact, slowly move away and replace your body with your hands and then do as I said above. ( so hard to try to explain this.)
