Baby Clothes Sizes

I am realizing that different brands run so differently. I was wondering about your experiences with Carters. I have gotten SOOOOO much from Carters and as ready to use the 3 months sizes, but they are really big. I assumed 3 months means 0-3... am I right? Do they just run a little big?
Thanks!

Re: Baby Clothes Sizes

I have the opposite experience. Everything that DS had or has in Carter's runs small on him.

Re: Baby Clothes Sizes

3 months is 3 months. That's probably why they seem a little big. Chat Icon

Re: Baby Clothes Sizes

I find their clothes to be pretty true to the weight/heights listed on the tag.
For example DS is about 18lbs and is in 9month clothing, and I believe 9 months is 16.5lbs to about 19 or so.

to compare to other brands 3 months means 0-3, 6 months is 3-6 etc.

PS there are other brands that are made by Carters like Child of mine (I think thats the name) and I find their sizing to be COMPLETELY different from Carters.

Re: Baby Clothes Sizes

I find that Carters runs a little big....and the quality is pretty good so the stuff doesn't shrink as much as some other brands. DS is just starting to fit into Carters 3 mos. (still a little big) but some Old Navy and Gap 0-3 month stuff is getting a little small on him. He is also in 3-6 month Gerber onesies (CHEAP QUALTIY AND SHRINK!) but still in newborn Carters onesies.

For my son, number on the Carter's outfit is the last time he can wear it.

So 3 months for him was 0-3, 6 months was 3-6, etc. Right now he is 10 months and for clothing he's in 12 months but for pjs he was in the 18 months. So we're starting to see a change.

I find Carters to run a little big, but I love that their stuff doesn't shrink and washes sooo well.

Re: Baby Clothes Sizes

I found that Carter's runs a little bigger, but up to a certain point. Kayla is now 9 months old and is in some 18 month Carter's shirts and pants cause of her Buddha belly Chat Icon I find that the length is long on her but the width of some of their shirts and pants became too narrow as she got older. She's not overweight either!

Same here. DD usually wears a size until she is that age. She is 14 months now and wearing 18 months. I wonder if this will hold true as she gets older.

Re: Baby Clothes Sizes

I found the Carters onesies I have are a little bit bigger than the Gerber ones I have. DD is right about the weight now to move to the 3-6 months, but they are still a little big on her.

Re: Baby Clothes Sizes

Brands do run different but it also depends how your child is built (long/sort torso, legs, big/small belly, etc...) Ds where a variety of sizes. He's about to be 18 months and needs 18 or 24 months in bottoms, but he can still fit into many 12 months shirts, but can wear them as big as 2T. Chat Icon
