Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
I'm 35 weeks and was packing up my hospital bag last night and going through the mountains of baby clothes to decide what to bring to the hospital and I was definitely over-packing. What else is new? I pared it down to 3 footies/gowns, 2 pairs of leggings, and 3 onesies. This includes her going home outfit. Is this too little though? I mean, I can always send my sister home to pick up more clothes if needed but I'd prefer not to. I also packed no scratch mittens, 2 pairs of socks, and a swaddling blanket (yes, I know I won't need it, but I want a pretty one for the hospital photographer).
What did you bring with you (or plan to bring with you) to the hospital for baby to wear?

Re: Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
Just an outfit to take her home in.
The hospital provides everything else and from what I hear they prefer you not dress them in too much as they have to do exams etc .
They provided swaddle blankets, hats, and the long sleeve snap side shirts. That was all she was in the whole time we were there.

OH! I had no idea they provided clothes, too! Interesting. Thank you so much, I was breaking my head over it last night.

Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
I'd bring one outfit other than that going home outfit. DD proceeded to spit up on her going home outfit as soon as I got it on. Also, for hospital pictures, they swaddled her in a white sheet and didn't want me to put her in any clothes. Props (hats, lovey, rattle, sentimental items) were encouraged.

Gotcha! Thank you! I did pack a little headband and hat as well and still planned to bring at least one other just in case outfit. I just didn't realize the hospital provided so much- it's great!

Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
Just as a piece of advice, bring a back up coming home outfit just incase. DS leaked pee out of his diaper and soaked his. Of course it was the only outfit I had for him so he had to go home in the hospital tshirt, a diaper and lots of blankets.

Poor munchkin! Good tip though, I'm definitely going to bring a back up!

Even if you think you already know how big your baby is, I would suggest bringing something in newborn and something in 0-3 months. We originally thought baby girl was smaller but she ended up being 9 lbs! If you know baby is larger, you can probably forego the newborn, but definitely bring the 0-3 just in case!

Yeah, I have the onesie in a 0-3 months rather than newborn just in case. And the leggings that go with it in two sizes. I'm 5'3 and DH is 6'8 lol. So she can really go either way or may just wind up the most average sized person ever.
I have a growth sono next Tuesday so hopefully I'll know better then, but they seem like they can't be trusted either!

Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
I packed one coming home outfit, and a Little Brother Onesie I had made so the first time my DD meets him they can have their coordinating Big Sister/Little Brother shirts on. The hospital will provide for your baby.
I only bought 0-3 months for him. My DD was born at 21 inches long so she wasn't in newborn for too long. If he's shorter I will run get newborn stuff when we get home, everything is on clearance now ha

Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
I dressed DD every day in the hospital from the day she was born.
I brought 2 little summer outfits, and her coming home outfit, with matching bows for each.
I never used mittens, and dd was born in the summer so we didn't use any socks. We also never really used the little baby hats.
I didn't bring a nice blanket, but it's actually one of the things that I regret

Yeah most of the stuff I have is 0-3 months. I was looking at the couple of newborn sized outfits I have and they are so tiny! They were the ones I was going to bring to the hospital since I don't know how much I'll be able to use them after the first week or so.

Is it that they didn't provide clothing or you just opted to use your own?
I asked a friend who delivered at Winthrop recently because I distinctly remember the baby being dressed in an outfit we bought her and she used all her own clothes, too. And the hospital only provided blankets and side snap shirts.

DD was 7 lbs and the newborn stuff was big on her at first. She was in newborn for quite a while. 0-3 would have SWAM on her at that point. So you never know

I guess the had onesies, but I never dressed Dd in stuff like that so I brought my own.
Also, Dd was born at 8 lbs 4 oz and still wore newborn clothes for about a month

Re: Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
Interesting! The newborn stuff just seems soooooooo little. Then again, the brand makes a difference, too. I compared two different pairs of newborn sized leggings and one was almost double the length of the other. I'm more worried about her being long than outweighing the clothes, ya know? I do have a lot of the gowns in newborn and 0-3 months since they are easy and more forgiving in terms of size.

Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
For DD1, I brought a 0-3 outfit and a newborn outfit. She was about 4 months old before she fit in the 0-3 outfit and she was an average sized baby. While in the hospital, both kids just wore what the hospital put them in. It's much easier when they go to weigh them and stuff like that. Plus they're swaddled pretty much the whole time anyway.

Yes! I remember a nurse saying to me, these first few days are not a fashion show!
LOL
She was so right.

Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
One outfit to come home in...that's it. Otherwise they were just in diaper, undershirt, and blanket. Much easier for the nurses to conduct their vitals, do exams, and for me to change diapers and do skin to skin as much as possible. But I also always dress my babies for their comfort, not my own enjoyment.

This.
The hospital gives them the side snap shirts and they are pretty much swaddled the whole time, so clothes are not needed and actually a hinderance to the nurses and doctors that are constantly checking their vitals. Also a pain for the many, many diaper changes! You also will most likely need to undress your baby to keep them awake for feedings to. If you plan to have the baby stay in the nursery, I would definitely suggest not putting any other clothes on the baby.
At the end of the day, its up to you, it's your baby, but there is really no need for clothes those first couple of days. I always felt like a little one that's been naked the past 9 months is not going to want clothes on anyway ;)

Re: Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
Just the take-home outfit.
The hospital will dress the baby in a short side-snap undershirt and swaddle.
I also brought 2-3 Aden & Anais swaddle blankets because it's annoying how small the hospital blankets are. During the day when she was with me, I used my blankets.

Baby Clothes to Bring to Hospital?
Take home outfit only. I would bring 1 in NB and 1 in 0-3. I was told I was having ginormo baby and she was a peanut. Even NB was swimming on her. I did bring a hat with a giant bow, which I really didn't even need because the hospital gave the girls bow hats.
There was no way I was changing dd out of her hospital issued uniform.....I was not interested in making the nurses' lives difficult and even if you keep baby with you they will take her for tests, to be weighed, etc and do not want to be fussing with outfits.
