Baby doesn't like the swaddle????
Gavin grunts and tries to break free from his swaddle for at least and hour every night and I think it actually wakes him during the night too.
He loves to keep his hands near his face and by being swaddled I think it frustrates him....
Anyone find the swaddle makes sleeping worse?

my kids were never swaddled. they hated it! they are crazy sleepers too. arms flailing, legs swinging, rotating, lol
they still hate blankets to this day!

I keep her arms out. Thats what they told me to do at the hospital. she HATES it when her arms are confined.

jonah hated being swaddled - i mean really hated it. then last week i was in bru, lamenting to another mother about the fact that we were not yet in a sleep routine (jonah is 2 months today), and she convinced me to give swaddling another try using the swaddle me blanket. so i bought one right then and there, and it has made a HUGE difference in his sleep and he now seems to like being swaddled a lot.
best 10 bucks i've ever spent

My oldest hated the swaddle, even in the hospital. She was a good sleeper from about 2-3 weeks old, started at that time at 6-7 hours at night.
My youngest, LOVES it and was our lifesaver! At 5.5 months old she's still being swaddled at night, granted it's much looser and lower down that it used to be since she's growing out of it. We use the Miracle blanket.

The miracle blanket worked for us for a few nights, but I think he was just so exhausted in the first week home. But we always found him like this when he fell asleep, so then we understood what he liked:
This is him around 2-3 weeks:
He still sleeps this way!

my dd never used a swaddle, we used to call her houdini cause she would busty out of the tightest swaddle in no time flat...if he does not like to be swaddled it is fine, my dd was always a good sleeper without the swaddling

Melanie came out with her right hand next to her face (ouch!) and she still does it. She hates the swaddle so we don't use it.
My DS on the other hand was a huge fan of the miracle blanket

DS can only sleep well when swaddled, although sometimes he does manage to get his arms free and get his hands up by his face.
The problem is that if he is not swaddled, he flails his arms , punches himself in the face and keeps himself awake!
So, we still swaddle him at night and get excited to see what he looks like in the morning!

this is exactly my DS too. He hates the swaddle, but if I don't swaddle him, he flails around so much he doesn't fall asleep, and then no one sleeps. 
We have been using the swaddle me, since the velcro seems to keep him swaddled better than just having him in a blanket. He is surprisingly strong for a newborn!
