Baby Food...When did you move to Stage 2?
Hi Girls & Happy Holidays!
My son will be 6 months on the 28th. I am currently feeding him the Stage 1 (Earth's Best or Gerber Organics-not sure if that makes a difference) Veggies & Fruits.
He is almost sitting up on his own...but not quite. If he puts his arms to his sides he can stay upright for a good 10-15 seconds before bending forward.
When is a good time to move to Stage 2? Should be sitting on his own and for a longer period of time? I thought I read somewhere that he should be able to sit-up and not just be a "supported" sitter. Maybe I'm wrong...could be confusing with something else. Is 6 months the magic number to move them to Stage 2?
I need help with this stuff...he wont go back to the Pediatrician until after the New Year, then we are going to AZ end of January, so I want to figure out a good eating schedule before then.
P.S- He does great with everything I give him now and has always been an awesome sleeper. He gets about 4 (6-8oz) bottles with his Alimentum Formula and 1 Tbsp Oatmeal added to each bottle.
Thanks!!

Re: Baby Food...When did you move to Stage 2?
I have the same question.
Not to change subject...but can you please post your daily feeding schedule.
My DD will be 6 months on Jan. 1 and she is on Alimentum as well. She also takes Stage 1 (Earth Best and Gerber) fruits and veggies plus oatmeal but she loves her solids that she refuses her bottle so I am afraid that she is not getting enough formula daily.
Do you think the trick is to add oatmeal to each bottle? Also, which bottle nipple do you use-since it will be thicker?
Thank you so much for helping me.
I also need help with this stuff too...I am so confused!!!!

Re: Baby Food...When did you move to Stage 2?
Honestly, there is no difference between stage 1 and stage 2, aside from the fact that the jars are bigger, and they are mixed as opposed to just ONE fruit or veggie.
DS has been eating stage 2's since maybe 5 months?

Okay so we r in the same boat. Time frames are estimated bc he wakes at diff times each day.
Wake up around;
6-7am- 8 oz bottle plus 1Tbsp Oatmeal 10-11am- 6 oz bottle plus Oats 12-130pm- Half Stage 1 Veggie & Half Stage 1 Fruit 3-4pm- 8 oz Bottle plus Oats 530-630pm- Half Veg & Half Fruit 800-830pm- 6 oz plus Oats
Sleep
ETA: He uses the Gerber Nuk bottles from Walmart. I returned the expensive ones bc he loved these. Right now he is on medium flow nipple stage 2. I'm switching to Fast Flow tomorrow b/c I just purchased them.
Not sure if adding the Oats to the bottle will help, but I have always done it this way. Chase took well to a spoon so I just left it alone. Didn't need to feed him Cereal from a spoon to get him more used to it. I find it works best for our schedule.
Good Luck and I'm here to help in any way I can.

No problem. It's so hard b/c every baby is different. All we can do is "trial and error" and offer support.
