Baby Furniture Smells
DD's furniture came 2.5 weeks and it smells bad Not like new furniture... but rather like musty and moldy. I have tried everything to air it out. Left the windows open for days.. baking soda in the drawers. Anyone else have this problem? We have the store coming today to take a look at it. I'm worried maybe it got wet in the warehouse or something and that's why it stinks! I'm due in less than 4 weeks ugh... Too much stress!

Nope.. mine smelled like wood. And was covered in wood dust on the unfinished parts that I had to keep wiping at. That was annoying
But if you know it smells bad, don't let store talk you out of it. The delivery guys tried to get us to keep the first dresser they brought which looked like the color was faded and rubbed off in places. They said that's just the finish and the next one will be the same. Nope, it went right back on the truck and the next one was good. The first one was old and probably sat in the warehouse too long and condensation damaged it. You could see stripes across the wood boards where it was wrapped up. It was supposed to be made to order (waited like 2 months for it) but the manufacture date on the dresser was a year or 2 prior (I can't recall what it was).

ETA- don't worry if you won't have the new one in time. Make room for those tiny close in your dresser, hang some, put them in a basket. It will be fine.

Mine also smelled like wood. I would contact the store that you bought the furniture from and tell them. They may swap it out for you.

Wood here too, in perfect condition. I would ask for a new set. That's not normal. Maybe keep the draws open in the meantime?

Re: Baby Furniture Smells
So we went back to the store and all three sets they have in stock also have the same smell... So frustrating. They will not admit it smells.. I picked a new set from a new company...which is also costing me more money.. I'm so upset I wont have furniture when this baby gets here. And to boot, the room STILL smells like the furniture and the stuff has been out of the room for almost a week! Any advice??!!

Re: Baby Furniture Smells
I'm sorry about your troubles, and glad you sent it back.
Try damp rid for the smell.
For dd, we lived in a 1-bedroom apt and she hadn't had her own furniture at all. We got an inexpensive changing table and set up those fabric collapsible bins - 3 on each level of the changing table shelves. We fit all of her clothes in there until she was a year and a half and we finally moved.
