baby gear - strollers
I have a few baby showers coming up and am looking over the registries.
Do babies really need 2 - 3 types of strollers along with the must buy car seat, booster seat (for old kids) and a highchair (older kids) Can't there just be one stroller with a car seat attachment One good friend has an infant car seat that snaps into a frame (stroller) but that is not going to last too long.
And what's with strollers that are only good for 20lbs Don't kids still need a stroller until like 40lbs

Re: baby gear - strollers
I don't think everyone needs multiple strollers. Usually what happens is you start out with one and opt for a lighter model.
I had a Snap N Go (the wire frame for the car seat). It's much easier to navigate, to open than a travel system stroller (those are the stroller/car seat combos you see). Travel systems tend (or tended when I looked into them) to be very heavy. Add the weight of a baby & a few packages, it gets significantly heavier.
I have & still use my Peg Perego Pliko Trek. It was my everything stroller. It also came with a footboard so my kindergartner can ride on as I push my pre-schooler.
You could get away with a convertible car seat for an infant-toddler. Some of them do have low weigh but then the baby falls asleep the minute you get in the car. You have to take the baby out of the convertible car seat(more likely waking them up). Rather than deal with the convertible, most people opt to get an infant car seat (the little ones you see people carry around). It's convenient because when the baby falls asleep, you can take the baby with you & it has a place to sleep. I know some people use if when their baby has a cold (it's easier for them to breathe if they're upright).
Booster seats are optional but make getting the infant in & out of the car a lot more convenient.
Strollers up to 20lbs are a waste IMO. At 20lbs, your kid is probably walking. If you're taking them for long distances, you should opt for one up to 40lbs.

Thank you so much for all of this info.
