Baby Monitor frustration... recommendations for video monitors please
I have the Graco iMonitor. For the first 2 months it was great, except I had sort of regretted not getting the video monitor since DD slept in a crib in the nursery from her second week home b/c of our cats and I find myself often wishing I could "check in" on her without going into the room and disturbing her. Anyway, I the monitor has been wacking out lately. I've tried changing the channels but sometimes it doesn't work. I find in the middle of the night it will "lose" the base and the red light will come on and it will beep... I want to throw it out the window when it does that at 3am!
Anyway, I have an opportunity to get a basically "free" Graco Video iMonitor (they go for like $199 at the store) through my job. I'm just not sure I should get it since it's also a Graco iMonitor and I'm irritated by the sound only monitor. I'm afraid I'll have the same problem. However, I never hear neighbor's conversations or anything - I think b/c it's digital it's supposed to not have that issue.
Anyone recommend their video monitor? Anyone like the Graco Video iMonitor or know how I can fix mine?

Re: Baby Monitor frustration... recommendations for video monitors please
Good to know about the summer b/c I had my doubts about it - my BFF had it and she said the video part stopped working before her first baby was 1. If it's working well for the majority though I'll give it a try. Does it come with any warranty or anything?

It does come with a warranty which appears to be lifetime. (I just looked at the owner's manual and it says Summer stands behind their products, for customer service please call . . .)
I've been using it almost 8 months and love it.

I also have the summer handheld and love it!! I did have a reception problem around 6 months, but they were good about replacing it!
Word of advice though: Ask for the overnight shipping if you ever need a replacement! They won't offer it, you must ask for it. I got screwed over that.

I bought the Graco Video iMonitor and I HATE it. It is useless to me, loses reception more often than it is in. Don't waste your money on that thing.

Re: Baby Monitor frustration... recommendations for video monitors please
I love the Summer Infant Handheld. I had an audio only monitor for a while and couldn't justify the cost of a video monitor until one day DS ended up a couple feet away from his playmat! I wish I had bought it sooner!

I think I am the only one who hated mine and returned it! The picture was always grainy for me. When I returned it they said it was probably bc I have wireless internet and they said I should get a digital one. I never replaced it and so far we're doing fine without one.
