Baby shower for out of town friend
My I'm planning a baby shower for a friend who lives out of state. The shower will be here on the island, but she lives in Florida.
Any suggestions on how to ask people to have the gifts sent to her home in Fl. rather than bring stuff to the shower? She will be flying up and there will be no way for her to bring stuff back.
Has anybody seen this done or ever done something like this?

Well I am from OOS and had my shower on LI. Very few shipped out of knowing our situation, however we shipped a lot and my in-laws drove down to GA with the majority of the gifts a few weeks later.
I would inculde on the invites to please ship directly to FL. Can she bring a ocuple extra suitcases for the little things? I always do that when i go to LI. We each travel with 2 peceies of luggage.

When our friends were living in GA, their family had a shower for them here. On the invitation it said gift cards were appreciated at BRU so they didn't have to worry about shipping the big items home. They could just go to BRU with all their gift cards and buy the stuff they need. They mostly got the gift cards but some people got them small stuff to open and they just took as much home as possible then shipped the rest.

maybe something like...
"XYZ will be carrying enough "prescious cargo" on the trip back to FL, therefor it would be most conveneint to have gifts sent directly to FL, or present the mommy-to-be with gift cards."
Are there any family members driving down, that could also assist with larger items?

I live OOS. My Mom put a cute saying in my invitation. I'm trying to think of what it said exactly but can't remember. I'll get her to email it to me. I haven't gotten the invitaiton yet, but she read it to me.
Also, if you registered at BRU, they can call your local store and order it there to avoid shipping fees. Then you'll go and pick it up.
