Baby Shower Invite & Registry Question

I haven't sent out my invites yet since my shower isn't until July.

However, a good portion of my big ticket items have already been purchased. I'm pretty sure a good chunk of it was purchased by my family.

I wasn't planning on sending out the invites until the end of this month. My MIL thinks I should send them sooner so that DH's side of the family has a chance to purchase bigger items as well.

Should I send them out within the next week or so or just wait & let them choose from whatever is left towards the end of the month/beginning of June?

I'm not sure if its too early to send invites out now for a July shower. My SIL just sent hers last week & hers is in June.

What date in July? If it's beginning, go ahead and send them now. If it's end of July you can wait another week or 2.

A lot of people vacation in the summer, so giving some advanced notice might not be a terrible thing to do.

I agree with the PP, if its early July I would start sending them out.

I think 6-8 weeks is a perfectly ok time to send them out. If its early July, send them, later, I'd think twice about it.

I agree I would send them about 8 weeks prior to the event.

Re: Baby Shower Invite & Registry Question

Summertime is always a busy time, so I'd send them now! My mom sent email save the dates in Feb for my shower in June because my family is HUGE and with communions and graduations, she wanted everyone to keep the date open! She mailed my shower invites the second week in April for my June 5th shower!

Re: Baby Shower Invite & Registry Question

Have you considered adding to your registry?

When I was having DD I went a little scan-gun crazy and added a ton of stuff to my registry. Then I went home, got a grip on myself, and took loads and loads of stuff off.

Then people cleared my registry a few weeks before my shower so I added a bunch of stuff back on - without the normal guilt I would have normally felt for being greedy.

I'm actually not sure what else I need to put on there. We have a small apartment, so I put what we would need at our place as well as some bigger items for our moms.

The only item we keep going back and forth about is a lightweight stroller. I don't think we'll use one & we don't have room for 2.

I was going to get one for my moms house, but my SIL mentioned buying a double stroller for there since her baby is will be the same age & there is a chance my mom may have both babies at her house at the same time.

My cousin suggested I add gift cards as an option in case people don't want to spend $$ on small items like bibs & pacifers.
