Baby shower...need food ideas
I figured this would be a good place to ask. Im throwing a baby shower for a friend. It will be outside in the middle of June. I want to do something different, instead of all hot food i was thinking wraps and salads. Can anyone give me other ideas to go along with them? Thanks so much!!

Re: Baby shower...need food ideas
I just typed my life away and lost the post.
I have had a backyard party in june here is what we had:
Stawberry sangria (I got the recipe from here and forgot who it was from sorry) do a search. What is great about it is that it has frozen juice in it so as I wanted to cool down the punch I just added juice.
Frozen cosmos (uses frozen cranberry cocktail instead of liquid)
Watermelon, tomato and cubed feta salad with homemade croutons and balsamic vinegrette.
mini chicken salad sanwiches the cape cod chicken salad from costco (has crasins and pecans) with apple slices on mini crossionts (sp)?
ina gartens roasted shrimp cocktail
cheese platter with sliced friuts
Baked Brie with assorted crakers
Seafood Pasta Salad - fm if you want the recipie.
Red Velvet cake
Mini cannolies assorted

Different types salads are so good in warm weather to serve along side of wraps. You can do a nice cold pasta salad....my mom makes this with penne or rotini, peppers, chick peas, tomatoes, a little pesto and a little Italian salad dressing. Its really good and people go nuts for it.
Or you can do a nice tomato salad.....tomatoes from the vine, lots of fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, salt....stir really well....DELISH!!!!!! Serve with Italian bread for the dunking.

Re: Baby shower...need food ideas
I am not a huge fan of wraps..I would probably do hero's, but that is a preference. (deli's usually supply pickles, macaroni, potato and coldslaw salads with these)
Nice big fruit salad
Tri-color Pasta Salad
Spinach Articoke dip, onion dip crudite
Big Salad--with pecans, goat cheese, craisins (or some other fun salad)
Sangria and/or champagne punch
Antipasto plate--cheese, salami, pepperoni, soppersata, crackers
Quiche
For dessert:
I might do nice pretty cupcakes
or mini cannolli's, mini cheesecakes, mini pie pastries

I would go with salads also--try to stay away form more mayo salads if they will be out in the heat.
Anoher thing I had at an outside party was smalll kabobs with fresh mozzarella balls and grape tomatoes they were marinated in a balsmic dressing.

Caprese on a stick
I made these for our engagement party a few years ago. Quick, easy and were a big hit!
