Babysitting question
When your parents or close frined watch your babies, do they watch them at your house or there house? I am in a wedding on Saturday and my mom is watching DS. I assumed she was watching him at my house but mentioned yesterday and she was gong to watch him at her house and then bring him over to mine. I told her that everything is at my house already and she said she can bring it over. I think he should be at home where he is comfortable. Its bad enough I wont see him from noon until I get home. DH is watching him in the morning and afternoon and then my mom is taking over at 5pm until we get home which will probably be around 11:30pm. Do you think I am a legiate point?

Re: Babysitting question
Perhap this is my jealousy speaking because my parents live in another state, but I think you should let your mom babysit wherever she prefers. Unless there is some safety concern (such as smokers in her house or big dogs that aren't well trained) I think that her comfort is most important. The baby won't know the difference.

Re: Babysitting question
Well both my parents smoke and I dont allow any smoking in my house regardless of who it is and people know to go outside. My mom will go outside but I dont think my dad will, if I am their I usually complain and he goes outside.

Re: Babysitting question
My mom watches them wherever she prefers. If it's going to be late, they stay at her house & we pick them up in the am.
I had the same issue with my in-laws. My FIL is a chain smoker. I had a huge problem with it because Joseph had respitory issues when he was an infant. After having an honest conversation with her about it, she promised he would smoke outside while Joseph was there. They dropped Joseph off one day & he was smoking IN the car with him. She didn't watch him for a few months. I always made other arrangements. Finally she made some comment about not being able to bring Joseph home. I said "If you had enough backbone to stand up to your husband, I'd consider it. I know you think it's no big deal. I do."
Later, DH complained to me that if they watch him once every 3 months, it won't harm him. Luckily, they've moved to FL.
Unfortunately if she's doing you a favor, she picks the place.

Re: Babysitting question
My mom watches my daughter at our house. I don't see the point of bringing her somewhere else, especially if its a nighttime event where she's going to fall asleep and then be woken up to go home.

Re: Babysitting question
My mom usually offers to come to my house; my MIL usually watches her at her house. They are doing me a favor so I give them the option.
