Babysitting question. Who should pay for gear at my house?
So, I have been watching Gavin for over a year now.
I have become VERY friendly with his family. They have me over for dinners, we spent a lot of time over the summer at the lake with them....
Her school is 10 minutes away...so at times if Leo is home, I will throw Gavin into the car and bring him to her for lunch.
I send her pictures of him daily and usually one video a week.
Ususally twice a week, I will pack up whatever we had for dinner and throw it into GAvin's bag so she doesn't have to cook that night.(this is easier then me having her over for dinner)...
So...Gavin is getting leg braces. He's going to be laid up for a few weeks learning how to walk with them.
I can't bring a kid who isn't walking to the park....
So, I have a double umbrella that I paid for. They are too big at this point for that to be brought on long walks....so I usually just walk with josh in the AM or PM...but now, it looks like walks are going to be the main part of our getting out...which is fine, then I will just bring josh to park when gavin goes home.
I know this is long....
So, the thing to do at this point is buy a double jogger.
Someone at her school is selling one for 100.00. She said she will split it with me. I said fine...I also offered my single jogger to her since I am already in stroller hell as it is.
I feel funny with her paying the other 50 though. Should I just hand her over the 100?
ETA: the back story was because Leo thinks my 50 is fine and she knows she has a good thing going, so the 50 is worth it to her.

I wouldn't feel bad - she is the one that probably feels bad and that is why she is offering to pay half for it.
Cause if you weren't watching her child you wouldn't need the double stroller

Hmm, I know this really doesn't help much, but who would be keeping it?
If she is the kind of person who expects to share the double stroller constantly then I would just buy it. Maybe you could work out a deal that she would give you $50 for the single stroller and this would give you the extra money for the double.

I also think it depends on who will be keeping it. I wouldn't want to pay for a stroller and when my child doesn't go to that babysiter anymore the babysitter keeps it for other kids.
Either I'd buy it 100% and get to keep it afterwards, or my babysitter bought it and she kept it afterwards.

I bought a double stroller for my DS provider. But it's mine, if he goes, the stroller goes with him!

I agree. You can almost consider it a "business expense" for yourself. If you ever decide to watch a child other than Gavin, you now have the double stroller. Also, if you own it, you can sell it when you are done with it.
It was nice of her to offer though and that's what makes it hard to decide to what to do.

don't feel badly! actually, I think she should be paying for the whole thing. If it weren't for Gavin, you would have no use for the stroller, KWIM?

I think splitting it is fine since you guys are so close. And you plan on more, so you probably WILL use it in the future, so the $50 is worthwhile for you too.
I wouldn't offer to pay the full $100 tho.

I guess I will just do the 50-50...then if I like it offer the rest of the money when we part babysitting ways.

I also babysit and I purchased the double stroller. DH and I are planning more children, so, we keep it here and will also use it in the future.

Re: Babysitting question. Who should pay for gear at my house?
I bought everything for the babysitters house....it meant extra alot...carseat, exersaucer, angel care monitor, toys...but she was watching him for a great price ($50 for 7 hours) and I was so thankful that she was watching him. I felt like all of this stuff was my responsibility as the parent.

Or give her $50 off the last week of babysitting & that will pay for the stroller.

I was very lucky. That's why I had no problem getting anything that she needed.
